"With you, 'I' became 'we' . Therefore, I was encouraged."

"You asked Erik to watch the kids?!"

"Yeah. He's a good friend. I trust he'll take good care of them."

"Kera, do you not know what he is?"

"...Gay?"

"A liar. He's not really gay!"

He's not gay? I had to laugh at that. Erik has bedded so many men to the point I don't know if he even finds women attractive anymore. I knew lots of gay men who thought women were sexy, but had no sexual interest. Erik was never liked that, but I know him being gay had nothing to do with him babysitting the kids.

"You're just paranoid. Go back to work or something. I have things to do."

"But--"

"Jacobi is expecting my report this minute. I don't have time to argue with you, Hayden Williams."

"Sha'Kera, I don't trust the man. I doubt he's even watching them."

"How about this..." I pulled some papers from a stack that looked as if it was about to tip over. "I'll call him and ask him what he's doing. If it seems like he's not with the kids, I'll make sure he proves he is. If he is with the kids, I expect you to apologize to him. I doubt he'll care, but he is overdue for an apology from you."

"He doesn't need my apology."

"Hayden, let it go. Erik is gay and he would never do anything that would harm our kids in any way. If he did before, he wouldn't be a ho at this point."

"That means--"

Well, it doesn't matter what it means, mister. I sighed and pushed my reading glasses up. Today was going to be a long day. There was no way I was going to finish this report and my case in a week. No possible way. Tamera still hadn't gotten back to me with the results and Sha'Kayla hasn't said a thing since she left. Abigail doesn't even know anything. I should probably ask her since she's a total geek.

Hayden will probably kill me for hanging up on him, but I don't care. He's literally the most annoying person I've ever known. More annoying than seeing my crush pretend he didn't know I liked him and continued to date all the sluts he knew I knew. Scratch calling Erik. He's really the only person I trust with the kids. I don't even trust Tamera and she's been my friend since before we graduated high school.

The moment I turned my head away from the window, I suddenly regretted it. Why the heck was he here? No, how? Is this karma for being rude to almost everyone I meet? I mean, it's typical of a celebrity. Do I not count as one? I'll apologize if I have to!

"...Sometimes I question what you do with your spare time," he muttered.

"That's none of your business what I do in my spare time," I snapped. "What do you want?"

"Oh, nothing much. Dinner would be nice."

Dang. I thought being rude would make him go away. I thought bitterly. I swear he's a complete fool.

"No, I'm married, Dante. How many times do I have to tell you that?"

"With how you're dressin', it doesn't seem like it."
