Life is like subtraction. You get less and less. You see less and less. So, cherish what you own now. Once you miss it, it won't come back.

"So...what are you doing here?" Hayden asked.

"Lexi wanted me to check up on you guys. Just to make sure that Hayden wasn't killing anyone." Asher smiled. "I saw that you both were...quite busy."

"Je vais vous assassiner." I will murder you.

"Je ne pense pas que tu veuilles faire ça." I don't think you want to do that.

I didn't understand a single word, but I do know I was highly embarrassed. That's why I had wanted the children home. Recently they had been going to their grandparents and hadn't spent a lick of time with me alone. Not unless you count the amusement park as time alone.

"Guys." I got in between the two and glared at Hayden. "Asher, it's nice my friend sent you to check up on us, but there is such a thing as privacy and you crossed the line with what you just did."

"Désolé." He smiled at me. "But...pas désolé que je suis tombé sur vous les gars." Not sorry I walked in on you guys.

Whatever he said had Hayden almost shoving me out the way onto the floor. I had to turn all the way to Hayden to stop him from choking the poor guy. Not that he would win anyway. Asher seemed to have gotten bigger and he was known for breaking people's necks lately.

When I got a hold of Hayden, I had him in a whole headlock. This man. I swear every time they got into an argument, Hayden was the one getting angry. I needed to learn some French.

"Arrêtez!" I shouted, pushing Hayden back. "I swear you two fight when you're in the same room. What's your problem?"

"Problem?" Asher asked. "I don't have a problem. Maybe Hayden just takes my French too seriously."

"Too serious?!" Hayden growled. "I dare you to say what you just said again."

"Really?"

"Do. It."

"Pas désolé que je suis tombé sur vous les gars." Not sorry I walked in on you guys.

I let Hayden go this time, but before he could reach Asher, I pulled Asher aside and smacked the life out of him. I expected him to get mad at me and try to break my neck, but that didn't happen. He only chuckled and grabbed my wrist. Hayden yanked me back with a growl.

"Quoi? Je n'allais rien lui faire." What? I wasn't going to do anything to her.

"Asher, get to the point," I snapped. "What are you doing here? Besides Lexi calling you."

"Oh...I came to tell you guys that Vincent and I are leaving for California tonight. Lexi's gala is just around the corner and I finally have been forced to come back to work."

"That's great." I smiled. "Why don't you hurry up and leave."

"...What if I don't want to?"

"Je vais vous assassiner. Sortez de ma maison, vous paniquez." I'll murder you. Get out of my house, you freak.

"Calm down, idiot," I shot at Hayden and pulled away from him. "Call us once you get there. We're leaving tomorrow night. Most likely we won't make contact with Lexi until before the party."

"Ooh. Rather in a hurry to get me out, huh?"

"Shut up and leave, stupid."

Asher only laughed at this and inched towards the door. I couldn't blame him. With Hayden in this state, there's no way he'd calm down long enough to let him leave unharmed. Asher made it to the door and opened it. I heard a growl behind me and ignored it. When he was halfway out, Asher turned back to us and smiled at Hayden.
