This is nice, in a boat just cruising along the lake. "I never knew you had a boat Soos." We were relaxing just the two of us, it was fishing day today so everyone in town is at the lake.
The boat was epic. It's big enough for a few people. It also runs on an engine. Instead of rowing we could just chill and cruise along the lake.
"It's nothing dude. Just found somewhere and fixed it up," Soos says while steering the boat across the lake, "It was very easy to fix. The inside just had a little problem and got clogged up, also had to patch up some of the holes."
"How did you even get the skill to do fix all kinds of stuff? Even in the Mystery Shack, you knew how to fix everything," I compliment Soos in his fine works.
"Well when you're working at the Mystery Shack you pick up a few things about that," he says nonchalantly, "My knowledge is both a blessing and a curse."
"How long did you say, you've been working here for?" I was intrigued in knowing, Wendy did say Soos was working here at the Mystery Shack for a long time already.
Soos gave some thought to it for a moment or two, "About maybe 10 years? I was around 12 years old at the time."
"Isn't that child labor? Isn't that illegal?" I turn to Soos, I'm concerned for him now.
He shrugs at my question, "Well, I owe him for giving me a place to stay," he was being genuine. A guy likes Stan having a loyal friend like Soos.
Maybe there is some soft spot to that grumpy Stan. "So what do you wanna do now?" I turn my head towards my front, it was still pretty early right now. The lake was beautiful, but across the lake was an island. It looked spooky with its thick fog covering the whole island. The mist seemed to only gather at that island. Weird...
I try to think of something to do that won't bore me. Maybe the twins can help me with that. They seem to be an attraction to weird stuff happening. I don't even know where they are tho. Probably at the shore, either that or they won't come here at the lake today. I have a feeling they'll come.
"I guess let's go to the shore first," Soos drives towards the shore.
We spotted Dipper and Mabel on the docking are, "There's Dipper and Mabel!" I point across the lake.
"Yep on it dude," Soos slows down the boat as to not crash into our friends and the docking area.
"Monster hunt! Monster hunt! Monster hunt!" I hear Mabel and Dipper chant as we go near the docks.
Soos blows the horn a few times as he reverses towards the docks. "You guys said anything about a monster hunt?" I said as we come to a full stop.
"Hey Will! Hey Soos!" The twins greets us.
I messed up Mabel's hair as I put my hand on her head, "What's up Mabel?" I fist bump Dipper, "What's up Dipper?"
"We were just going to go a monster hunt," Dipper explains.
"Dude! You can totally use my boat for your hunt, it has a steering wheel, chairs, normal boat stuff" Soos pats his boat.
"Alright alright, let's think this through," everyone looks at Stan, "You kids could waste your time in some monster finding adventure or... You can spend some time learning how to tie knots and skewer worms with your great uncle Stan," he explains with gestures.
The twins looks at me and Soos, I gave them a double thumbs-up, while Soos do a robot dance.
They look towards their Grunkle Stan smiling, he smells his sweaty armpits. With his boat that has a spill and a smoking propellor.
