Third Person's POV

It was sheer luck that Liam and Harry shared a friend, that they met each other. Otherwise, Liam wouldn't have piqued Harry's interest.

Harry saw it in Liam's eyes. He saw the lost look that Liam shielded behind a stoic gaze. He knew that Liam was broken, that he'd passed through a rough patch in his life that made him have a wrong impression on all who's around him, well except for Louis because no one can really hate the guy.

Harry just wanted to know what happened to Liam.

"Hi Liam."

"Harry." Liam nodded his head stiffly.

"So Liam, we've met a couple of times but we never did actually talk."

"And?"

"I would like to get to know you."

"No thanks."

"Why not?"

"I don't like people."

Harry stayed quiet after that, his first suspicion was just affirmed. Now, he had to wait for the extremely late Louis to come, for he was the only one who could make a ghost of a smile kiss Liam's seemingly frowning lips.

"Can I at least know your favorite color?"

"Purple."

"Mine is blue."

Liam only nodded in response. He didn't know why Harry tried so hard to talk to him. He was nothing but rude to the boy, yet he still tried, and that confused him.

••••••••••••••••••

"Why didn't Louis come yet?" Liam asked. He was feeling uneasy under Harry's scrutinizing gaze.

"Louis is not coming."

"What, why?"

"He was never coming in the first place."

"Then why am I here?"

"I asked him to make you come here so that I can spend some time with you." Harry blushed profusely at that. After admitting it out loud, he realized how desperate that sounded, and a bit creepy.

"Yeah, I'm gonna leave now."

"No! Please, stay. You don't even have to talk to me, but don't go." Harry wanted Liam to like him, to talk to him like he did with Louis, and he was willing to wait for as long as it takes.

Liam relented at Harry's pleading tone, and he may or may not have committed all what Harry told him about himself that day to memory, even if it seemed like he wasn't listening to him.

"Hi Liam!"

"Hey Lou." Liam chuckled fondly at Louis' excited tone.

"Where's Harry?" Liam found himself asking.

"Oh Harry's not coming today." Louis' tone suddenly saddened.

"Why not?"

"His mom is at the hospital; she's terribly sick."

"Oh?"

"Yeah, she's his everything Li; she's the only person he has left, besides me."

"What happened to the rest of his family?" Liam couldn't help but wonder.
