mackenzie groaned as a ray of sunlight poked in through her window. she hated mondays more than anything and wished she was sick so she could've dodged going to school. faking a sickness wasn't an option as she was just simple too awful at acting.
she rolled out of bed and went into her bathroom to brush her teeth take a quick shower. after coming out of the shower she got dressed in a black singlet and cropped green cardigan faded blue jeans and white sneakers. She left her hair down and grabbed her backpack and headed down stairs.
"im surprised you're up." her mother scoffed as she set down her mug. "you were up quite late."
"it's school. i can't tarnish my perfect attendance record" mackenzie smiled as she poured herself some cereal.
they both talked for a while before her mother had leave for work and she for school. she didn't have a car yet and her mother never had time to drop her off at school, so she had to walk. she didn't mind having to walk because her school was near by and she enjoyed the scenery alongside her own company.
by the time she arrived at school she had just fifteen minutes to run to her locker, grab her books and race to class, without forgetting to shut her locker properly.
"hey." A voice greeted from behind her. she turned around to find her friend lauren, with a huge smile on her face as always.
although lauren was quite popular she had no problem being friends with mackenzie. they'd known eachother since the second grade, and their friendship was top priority. the blond would often forfeit the company of her other friends so she could hang out with her best friend.
"hi." mackenzie smiled shutting her locker.
"here's your math book." lauren said handing the blue notebook with stars on it to mackenzie. "thanks"
"you're welcome." the brunette said politely, tucking it into her backpack.
just the sound of the first bell chorused through the halls which meant it was time to get to class. mackenzie sighed knowing she would be bored because all her classes before lunch were without lauren.
"i have an english test." mackenzie said quickly, scurrying in the direction of her class.
"see you at lunch." lauren waved enthusiastically before finding her way to her own classroom.
mackenzie got to her class in record time but the only empty seat was at the back of the class. she begrudgingly made her way to the seat sat down, waiting for the teacher to walk in.
her teacher arrived barely a second after and quickly apologized while handing out the test papers. mackenzie smiled as she read through the questions. in her opinion, you'd have to he a complete fool to fail the test.
a few minutes into the test she heard the boy beside her whisper her name. she sighed and decided to ignore him, lest her teacher think she was cheating. the boy on the other hand didn't take the hint and kept pestering her. she gave in and decided to inquire what he wanted. she looked to the side and rolled her eyes when she saw it was lauren's twin brother johnny.
she'd probably only ever talked to johnny a total of 5 times in her life. and even those times it wasn't a real conversation.
"finally" he sighed when she looked up. "are you deaf? i've been calling you for the past six minutes."1
"no. i'm not deaf." she retorted keeping her voice low.
"then why didn't you answer?" He snapped straining his voice so he wouldn't be heared.
"because I don't want to get in trouble." she answered rolling her eyes.
"mackenzie ziegler," she heard her teacher call. "i believe this is not the time for discussions." Her teacher frowned.
