As Mackenzie entered the gym, she felt like Cinderella in a fairy tale land. From her beautiful dress, to silver shoes, to her exquisite jewellery. The night felt magical and unreal.
Mackenzie and Johnny soon found their friends, and they gracefully made their way over to them.
"McKenzie!" Her friends all squealed, as they ran to hug each other.
"You guys look so beautiful." MacKenzie exclaimed, as she pulled out of the hug admire her friends.
"Oh shut up, let's talk about how you look stunning." Nadia cooed.
"Yeah Kenz, you really took your time." Annie said in agreement.
"Whatever, you guys look gorgeous." Mackenzie smiled.
"Hey we're going to get some Punch." Johnny told Mackenzie. Would you like some?"
"Yeah." She nodded, placing a kiss on his cheek.
Minutes later the four boys returned, each holding two cups of punch.
"Can I speak to John for a moment?" Lauren asked Mackenzie, as she and Johnny we're both talking.
"Yeah, sure." Mackenzie said nodding, and Lauren dragged Johnny along with her.
"Don't tell me this is about what I think it is." Johnny groaned, as they came to a halt at the gym door.
"It is." Lauren answered, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Why won't you just leave me alone?" Johnny asked, sighing deeply.
"Because you're playing with fire, and you're about to get burned real soon." Lauren answered firmly, staring him straight in the eyes.
"Look. I'm. Going. To. Tell. Her." Johnny said, enunciating each word slowly and carefully.
"When?" Lauren asked in an aggravated tone.
"Really soon." Johnny answered.
"Graduation is on Monday, you have to do before then, or like I said I will." Lauren said calmly, before walking off.
"Why the fuck won't she leave me alone." Johnny groaned, before walking back to Mackenzie.
"Hey." Mackenzie smiled, as he took a seat beside her.
"Hi." She giggled nervously, taking a sip out of her cup.
"I love you Mackenzie." Johnny smiled, taking her hand in his.
"I love you too." She smiled back, leaning in to capture his lips against hers.
"I'm really lucky to have you." He cooed, running his thumb over the back of her hand.
"You're gonna make me cry." She laughed softly, sniffling briefly. "I love you beyond words, John."
The entire night was filled with laughter and dancing. Mackenzie had never felt so happy.
The last song of the night was about to play, and Mackenzie was extremely nervous. She stood silently in a corner of the gym, as all the couple's paired up, swaying back and forth.
"What's a pretty girl like you, doing here all by yourself?" A voice asked. She picked up her head to find Johnny standing in front of her, an extremely bright smile on his face.
"I don't know." She answered looking down, "I've never slow danced before."
"Neither have I." He said smiling coyly, "good thing there's a first time for everything."
"What if I'm all clumsy and awkward?" She asked shyly, wringing her hands together.
"It doesn't matter. Now shall we?" He grinned, stretching forth his hand. Mackenzie took his hand, and he led her to the dance floor.
