Hermione screamed, but could barely hear herself over the rushing in her ears. She ran to Draco, ignoring the branches snapping and hitting her in the face, ignoring the noise and the Aurors rushing the scene.
"No, no, no," she cried, collapsing to her knees beside Draco. He looked so peaceful, his blond hair falling gently into his closed eyes. "This can't happen. You were going to be fine."
And then she started sobbing.
-
Pansy shrieked, anger coursing through her veins. Theo stood out of her way- no witch or wizard was a match for Pansy in this state.
Natalia was trying to get to Abraxas before the Aurors got to them, but Pansy was faster then them all. She would pay- they both would.
"Avada Kedavra!" Pansy screamed, green light streaming from the end of her wand. Someone wailed and Natalia was hit in the center of her chest, Abraxas's prone body falling from her arms.
"Pansy!"
Blaise. Running to her.
The full weight of what she had just done hit her and her hands began to shake. Her wand fell from her grip and she stammered, "Blaise-Blaise, I-I just killed her- I just killed someone, Blaise, what do I do?"
Panic rose in her voice as Theo approached, saying something to Blaise that she couldn't hear. "Theo," she said, dropping into his arms.
-
Harry wanted to stop to help Hermione but he had a job to do and by Merlin he would do it. Abraxas would be put away.
"Matt. Get all wands from the scene- take Pansy's, too. She's going to have a trial," Harry said, displeased. Matt nodded, eager to prove himself. He had recently finished training, and this was his first big mission.
Harry sighed. Another Auror grabbed Natalia's wand, Matt patting down Abraxas to be sure that he didn't have a spare. Harry's second, Emily, said, "Should I take him in?"
Harry grimaced. "Yeah. Hold him in Azkaban."
-
"Hermione, give it up!" Blaise shouted. Hermione was crying, screaming at him to let go. Her shaking hands cupped Draco's bloodstained cheeks as more Aurors tried to pull her away.
"Let me go!" she screamed desperately, elbowing them all away. When it became evident that she wasn't strong enough to get them off, she broke down. Her only thought was Draco. How do I get him back? He's gone- Merlin-
Before she could decide if it was a good idea or not, she called on her memory of Oculumency and dove into his mind.
-
Hermione's body went slack and she stopped resisting. Blaise frowned. "Mione?"
She didn't respond.
Blaise dropped her and rushed to face her. Her eyes were closed, skin ashy. "Hermione!"
No response.
"Is she okay?" Blaise heard an Auror say as he frantically searched for a pulse point.
Her heart wasn't beating.
