It was unexpected. Aizawa actually agreed to the awful idea of moving in with her for a few days. It was already Sunday night, Y/N'd left the orphanage for the last time. She was driving home, awaiting a call from the man, lost in her own thoughts.
The first time the woman felt drawn to him was a very long time ago and she couldn't remember when exactly. But Y/N clearly remembered that it was their first year at U. A. and she stalked him for almost an year. He always felt so sad but calm at the same time. Aizawa didn't really stand out with anything but that, yet she found him mesmerizing. But the woman thought that she had no chance with a potetntial pro-hero, especially one uninterested in women.
There it was, a beep from her phone. The man knew better than texting her while she was driving, but Y/N didn't really say anything about going home already. And she realized it just now. Without looking at his message, she called him and put him on speaker.
'Sorry, I'm driving and can't text you, Shota, I didn't even read it.' her voice was somewhere far away, as if it'd gone home beforehand.
'It's okay. I guess you're coming home already. Should I head there?' he sounded tired and sleepy.
'I'll come pick you up, don't worry. You can go downstairs in about 10 minutes.' he couldn't see her smile but was clearly imagining it.
'You really don't have to, I'm a grown ass man.' his chuckle was auditable enough to reach her ears.
'I want to, so I'll do it.'
'Are you tired?' if he'd been in front of her, she would have noticed the worry he expressed. But Y/N knew that sight way too well.
'I guess I'm a bit tired, nothing more than usual tho. You sound pretty dead yourself, Shota. Do you need help with grading or something?'
'No, even if I needed your help, I wouldn't let you help.' Aizawa was really stern right now, making her jerk up a bit.
'I know, I just gotta try everyday.' that giggle made him jerk up in return.
'I'm gonna be downstairs in 10 minutes.' and with that he closed the line.
Y/N was always surrounded by boys, but never really trusted them because of her quirk. Most of them were around her just because she was pretty and they were filled with nothing but desire. Soon enough around her came a boy from the hero course - Shirakumo. He was a real sweetheart and didn't mean ill, just the opposite. So the woman told him about her crush on the raven-haired boy from his class. Then she learned his name and it sounded so right coming out of her lips. Shirakumo encouraged her to talk to his friend, he wasn't a bad guy after all. And so Y/N did it. During their conversation over lunch she didn't sense any attraction, but Shirakumo encouraged her to not lose hope and basically dragged her to the roof every lunch break. But Y/N had decided to not read Aizawa's energy anymore. And their happy high school days began.
Y/N reached Aizawa's apartment pretty fast, but he was already there. The sight of him waiting in the cold by the road with a suitcase made her heart flutter. The street lights illuminated him just fine, his hair was held up, he was dressed in his casual clothes.
'You' re early.' Aizawa said as he opened the door.
' Well, I was really out of it, I might've stepped on gas a bit.' a wide grin was formed on her face as he sat beside her.
'You know, I have just one suitcase that I could've carried alone 2 blocks away.'
'I know, but I have a car that's on the road so why not help you? Plus, it feels more romantic that way.' Y/N giggled loudly, not looking at him.
'It would've been romantic if I'd gone to yours before you, lit candles, prepared dinner, put some roses in vases and waited for you. But now we're two tired idiots in a car.' Aizawa's eyes never left her as he said all that.
'Now that you mention it, have you had dinner already?'
'No, why?'
'Then we' re gonna cook together!' the excitement in her voice made him chuckle.
As time passed by, Y/N realized her feelings weren't gonna go away just like that. And Aizawa showed no signs of interest. But the woman didn't want to stop her contact with their small group. So she gave in and said 'yes' to a nice boy from another school, whose name was long forgotten. Everyone seemed to be happy about her, Aizawa included. But Y/N and the raven-haired man had began to study together recently, just the two of them. During their study sessions Aizawa didn't talk about her boyfriend or any other boy in particular which made her feel strange. Then Aizawa, Shirakumo and Hizashi started their work study. Kayama was really nice to offer two of the boys a place in the agency she was at, but Y/N was left alone that way. She could no longer see Aizawa after school or go home with Hizashi, or study with Aizawa, or eat ice cream with Shirakumo after school. They had their duties and that's when it hit her. And Y/N began to worry more than ever about their well-being, especially Aizawa's. That's when she realized it wasn't a mare crush, it was a huge crush.
The woman opened the door to her apartment and walked in straight to the kitchen. Aizawa took off his shoes and closed the door, then locked it.
'Where am I gonna sleep?' his hoarse voice reached her ears just as she was about to sit on the couch and pull out a cigarrtte.
'The guest room is all made up, but you can sleep here if you wanna.' Y/N giggled as she turned to face him.
'No thanks, your couch is the worst.' with that he disappeared off to the guest room and the woman lit a cigarette, playing some slow music and letting her h/c hair down.
All of a sudden, Shirakumo was gone. Y/N was right to worry over their well-being. Aizawa's voice over the phone sounded just as shattered as her heart when he told her about their friend. He'd never see them together. He'd never encourage her again. He'd never flirt with her again just to see if Aizawa'd react. He'd never eat lunch with them again. He'd never be there again. And that made her want to curl up and cry. But Aizawa was a bigger wreck than her. So Y/N neglected herself and gave it her all to help Aizawa. Even her boyfriend broke up with her because he felt neglected. And that's when Y/N realized it wasn't a huge crush, it was love.
'What are you thinking about?' the man's voice pulled her out of her thoughts again.
'Dinner. What do you wanna eat?' she was obviously lying but she could not tell him how she was thinking about her feelings for him.
'Whatever you want, the whole week has to be all about you after all.' he sat down on the couch next to her and made himself comfortable, closing his eyes. 'Just don't take forever to have dinner. I' m gonna help you but you gotta decide on the dish first.'
Then the silence engulfed them.
But no matter how much she wanted to stay and be with him, Y/N had to go and study more. Those four years were literal hell. And the woman couldn't look at any other man, while she was thinking about Aizawa and his well-being. Their texts and calls only became more frequent, her visits too, especially the surprise ones at his, when she hadn't even told her parents about coming home and slept at his place. And soon she was back in town, Aizawa had helped her choose an apartment that was awfully close to his place, they started spending a lot of time together again, even if they weren't working at the same place. Kayama and Hizashi were around her as well. As if nothing had happened. Then suddenly Aizawa started putting more distance between them, sinking her heart. At some point they'd see each other once in a month at the family dinner her parents held. And Aizawa was already pretty much a part of the family. Just as Y/N was about to give up and try to get over him, the man was offered a job at U. A. and accepted. So they were both back at the place where everything began and somewhere in this place she was supposed to figure out if he had feelings for her.
'Shota, we're gonna eat fried chicken and fries.' Y/N stood up, determined once again.
'Add a salad there.'
