: Folded and Faded
Live.
A simple four-letter-word we often took for granted once we hear. A plain word we only usually use to form sentences in an essay, slogan, and any other literary pieces. But, to an individual like me who's in the edge of life and death, that single four-letter-word is enough to alter the whole system.
His words were pursuing and it captured my courage to be tough on this battle against the pathogens inside me.
I thought this would be a start of a new hope for me, but things easily broke down again... The burning passion to live inside me was again slaughtered into ashes by an unexpected bad news that I recieved today...
"Good evening...April. I am Doctor Via Layzaban," mahinahon at payak na pagpapakilala ng isang babaeng medical staff. She's wearing a full-body protective gear. Her voice sounds like a mother to me.
My eyebrows furrowed as I sat on the right side of my bed. "B-bakit po? Where is Doc Angelo?" Pilit akong ngumiti sa kaniya. "A-ano...pong kailangan niyo?"
Instead of answering me, she continued to walk forward until she reached near on me. As I looked back on her eyes, there is this strange emotion I felt inside. Something like...there's something wrong she's about to tell.
"I'm a doctor here too, April," magaang sambit ni Doktora Via. "I'm one of the head doctors of this hospital. Hmm.. About Doc Angelo, he was now attending other patients sa ward so ako na lang ang pumunta rito sa iyo to update you about something important."
Nangunot ang noo ko. "What do you mean Doc? Is this really too important po kaya kahit hindi pa gumagabi, nagpunta na kayo rito?" pagbibiro ko rito. Napangiti ako saka natigilan. "Wait. Doc, is this about my health?
I can feel it.
"April..." she started. "I know you're doing great this past few days base na rin sa mga kwento at report nina Doc Angelo. I don't want to break off your optimism but I think you need to know these news."
