You are sitting on a log as you clean Dale's rifle. It was a Remington 700 VLS. You were going to keep it now, as a memento of Dale.

His funeral was in the morning, and once that was done, the group began settling into the farm. Hershel was now willing to have all of you permanently settled at his house.

You had just finished carrying boxes and crates inside, and were taking time to yourself. Carl had started walking over to you.

Carl: Hey, Y/N.

You: Hey, kiddo.

He sat down with you on the log. You noticed he was upset.

You: What's wrong?

Carl: It's my fault. I got Dale killed.

You rose a brow.

You: What do you mean?

Carl: The walker that killed him, I saw it in the woods. I could've killed it....but I didn't. I got scared.

You put a hand on his shoulder. You didn't blame him for Dale's death, and you sure as hell didn't want Carl feeling like he was at fault.

You: Don't blame yourself. Dale wouldn't want that.

Carl: I'm never holding a gun again. If I can't shoot it, then what's the point?

You: I know I'm not the right person to come to on the topic with guns, but I honestly think it's time for you to get proper training.

Carl looks up at you.

You: Ask your dad. If he's willing to let you have a gun, I can show you some things. Hell, even Clem can.

Carl nods.

Carl: Thanks, Y/N.

You pat his shoulder and give a nod. You then look up and see Clementine in the distance helping Lori with boxes.

Carl: Dude, it's so obvious you like her.

You: Shut up, man.

Carl: I'm being real.

You sigh, then remember that Rick told you to check the peremiter.

You: I gotta get going now. See you later.

You start walking away.

Carl: If you're just leaving because you don't want to talk about your crush, I understand.

You turn to him as you walk.

You: I will punch your eyes.

You turn back around and continue walking.

••

You're walking around the woods as you watch for walkers. You hold Dale's rifle in your hands, as you survey the tree line.

In the distance, you see two people walking. You walk in their direction, getting closer. The two of them begin to talk as you take cover behind a tree. When you peek out, you see that it's Shane and Randall.

They are about to continue walking, but you pop out of cover and hold them up with your rifle.

You: Hold it.

Shane turns to you, and Randall does too.

Randall: Don't shoot!

Shane hushes Randall as you he holds a hand towards you.
