As I'm cradled against the window, holding my knees to my chest for warmth, my eyes barely able to stay open.

"You can fall asleep y'know," Josh informs me, keeping his taunting eyes on the road.

The soothing of his voice only makes me want to undo myself under his touch. I gently place my head against the window and close my eyes, hoping to get a glimpse of sleep before arriving home.

"Sav?" I hear someone whisper, the voice is deep and raspy, trying to keep quiet, I sit up a bit to face a flustered Josh.

"I think your parents are fighting..." he informs me and as soon as I hear shouting from inside the house I feel as though we should have left later.

"Do you want to come to mine?" I shake my head in a disagreeing manner.

"I can't. My father will kill me." I tell him, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I open the passenger door as he does the same with him and meets me on my side.

He embraces me in a warm hug that I wish we could stay in for forever. I pull away, grabbing my phone and wallet from the seat before giving him a quick kiss and a goodbye.

I walk through the wooden door only to hear harassing words shooting at one another.

"This is all your fucking fault!" My father's voice booms, "what the hell was I thinking of marrying you?" He screams and I feel my stomach drop as it goes dead silent when I walk into the war zone.

On the granite counter, there is a stack of papers with signatures at the bottom. As soon as I read the headline my heart clenches.

"A-a divorce?" I question and they both look at me, my mother looking innocent while my father has veins popping out of his forehead of anger.

"Go upstairs." His stern voice says, and when I don't move and stare up to my mother mouthing 'i'm sorry'

"Go upstairs!" He screams, making me flinch and sprint up to my room.

As I lay here, on my bed, listening to music through my sound-canceling earphones I can't help but wonder why. I have never seen divorce papers up until now and I had never thought they could be so identifiable.

When your parents get a divorce, you usually feel sad, angry, stressed, but for me, it didn't hurt. And the only reason for that may be because I saw it coming.

Austin and Hailey were already asleep, deep enough to the point where they can't hear anything. They're leaving in two days and I'll miss them terribly. They've been living over 1500 miles away since the day we conversed on Instagram.

The next morning when I awaken from my deep slumber and make my way downstairs to get breakfast and see the papers are gone and the house silent. My mother was an early riser but she didn't seem to be home, Along with my father.

I sigh, taking a saucepan out of the cabinet and placing it on the stove.

I make a good batch of pancakes before Hailey comes down in her simple pajamas with a warm greeting.

"Good morning. Smells good." She compliments.

"Thank you, is Austin awake yet?"

"No, he's exhausted for whatever reason." I nod, taking the last pancake off the pan and turning off the stovetop.

I grab out three glass plates and put two on each before placing them on the countertop in front of Hailey and walking over to the fridge and grabbing maple syrup and butter.

"Austin!" I yell, hopefully waking him up so he can come downstairs and eat.

After a few minutes, he comes down fully clothed in sweatpants and a hoodie and sits at the counter.

"Rough night?" He says abruptly, causing me to give him a weird look.

"What?"

"The bags under your eyes. It looks like you didn't get any sleep." He observes.

"Oh... yeah, my parents are getting divorced," I explain and both of them drop their forks onto their plates in shock.

"Savannah, I'm so sorry," Hailey says sympathetically.

"It's okay, I kinda saw it coming so it wasn't too much of a shock," I inform them and start cutting a little indent into my pancake.

It really wasn't a shock, to be honest. My dad was incredibly rude to the sweetest mother to ever exist.

"Are you okay about everything?"

"Yeah, I guess so."
