"Wei Ying.."
Lan Wangji could feel his muscles begin to tense up, his breath to rapidly hintch as he stares at at Wei Yings phantom- what seemed to be his phantom after what felt like months of his disappearance.
'Is it really him?' He couldn't help but repeatedly ask himself, his conscious going bleak and thoughts in dissaray from constant dismay and stress. It had been so long since he had last seen Wei Ying and watching over his silhouette, his facial features, his figure- it all felt like some kind of sour gift.
It didn't matter how long he'd known the other boy, his presence brought him a sort of nostalgia he couldnt quite place into words. His company had been needed more than he himself had ever realized. He had been starved of attention, of affection for so very long, and to have finally be given it in such a care free manner, made him crave it even more.
He wanted that back, more than he would ever bring himself to admit. What he needed from the very beginning, what he had been missing was a friend. That is what filled that massive void in his heart that constantly weight at the back of his mind, someone that genuinely cares about him.
"Ah, Lan Zhan. How have you been?" Wei Ying asked nervously, anxious as he did his best to calm down and relax his nerves- taking in deep and quiet breaths.
He hadn't planned on seeing Lan Wangji any time soon and so, he was caught of guard. He was scared of what he'd say, what he thought about him- if he even cared in the first place. After all, all he ever did was be obnoxious and a nuisance for the other boy.
'Why was he even here in the first place? Dosent he... hate me?' That is what he continuously asked himself, over and over again. He was unsure, confused and agape from the ethereal scenery before him. Was is it even real?
Was he imagining this? After all he was visible fatigued, his body weak and weary and his mind no different- not even mildly. Should he apologize? Should he simply act as if they had no correlation whatsoever? Employe to client?
"We need to talk.." Lan Wangji stated with his usual stoic tone and abrasive demeanor. Yet somehow, in some funny way, Wei Ying could almost hear the desperation in his voice and that was the only reason he responded as quickly as he had; atleast that is what he likes to tell himself.
"Oh, um sure. I get off of work in an hour if you want to wait..." Wei Ying responded to the other's question, his nervousness bleeding through his voice as he talked, his hands fidgeting with the hem of the cotton- filled fabric from his shirt. He normally wouldn't act that way, and when he did he would mask such feelings nicely with his usual care free facade. But he just didn't know how to do that now, can you believe that?
"Mn." Lan Wangji replied emotionless as usual as he made his away across the little decorate cafe- somehow very suiting for Wei Ying. He scanned the room, his eyes studying it's very small hand full customers that were currently enjoying their dinner like any other day.
He simply sighed, deciding on an empty and random table somewhere around the ends of the cafe so he wouldn't be bothered by any unnecessary inconveniences, or people.
He sat there in silence, watching as customers came and left, their silhouette visible and clear through the window the faster night fell and midnight arrived. He closed his eyes gently, unable to have the strength to keep them open. He felt his mind slipping in and out of consciousness, his thought jumbled up into nothing as his Ascetic demeanor no longer shined through.
He hadn't noticed how tired he was, how stressed and sleepless he had become once he'd lost a friend, his only friend; as well as reality setting in, sinking into his conscious shamelessly like a heavy wave of sadness.
He closed his eyes, struggling to keep them open over how fatigued his body had become. He was sure he wouldn't be able to sleep at his place seeing as it was far from where he currently was and he felt as if his brother would most definitely be occupied. With more things than one to be fair.
So he simply sat there, his arms crossed on the cold, wooden material from the table he resided in, his head laid neatly on top as he felt himself slippin in and out of consciousness.
Would he be able to stay awake until Wei Ying's shift ended? No, he wouldn't.
But Wei Ying would most definitely wake him up as they both knew he would not leave him there stranded, and regardless of what came after, they were sure to be leaving the cafe together.Wei Ying shook the other boys shoulder lightly as he called out for him in an attempt to wake him up. "Ah, Lan Zhan? Wake up." He muttered quietly as he continued shaking him, although it progressively became more aggressive the longer Lan Wangji remained asleep.
"Mn.." He finally responded with a light groan while his body slowly sat up from his formal position.
"My shift is over. Let's go?"
Wei Ying asked the other with a smile on his face, his hand still resting on the Lan Zhans broad shoulders with his usual demeanor that Lan Zhan missed more than he did anything else."Mn."
