"Oh please let me set you guys up on a date" my best friend Ava begged, I had only been in L.A for a little under 2 weeks and she was already on at me.
I'd finally got round to visiting her after she moved to be with her new husband 6 months ago. Ever since i got here she's been pestering me about this guy she knows - who would be perfect for me apparently, but i've let her arrange blind dates before and they were all awful so im very reluctant to agree to another! "Ava no. Im not doing it again" i laugh at her across the table and take a sip of my latte "but his lovely! His hot and kind and single!" Ava tried again "how do u even know him Ava?" I ask "Matt? his a friend of Jackson's" she shrugs. I roll my eyes at her and laugh "so you don't know him that well then?"
"Not really but from what I've seen his a good guy" i shake my head, i cant believe im going to agree to this but it will shut her up! "Fine! Set it up. But if this goes wrong again you have to promise not to try and set me up again..... Deal?" She nods and smiles at me "thats fine because your going to love him!". I cant help but wonder what im going to have to deal with this time. We finish our coffee and head back to her house for dinner.
Friday night came around quickly, Ava had arranged the place and time with Matt. She would drop me off and then Matt would take me back to her place after our date. I was stood outside the restaurant waiting for Matt to arrive freezing my arse off! I was only wearing a thigh length blue dress with a thin leather jacket, i wasn't expecting to be waiting this long! It had been 20 minutes and no sign of him yet! I walked along to the corner of the street away from people who could hear and called Ava "hey, have you heard from Matt? His still not here and I'm not waiting much longer!" I say to her sounding pissed.
"No, his not called to say his not going.... Hold on i'll get Jackson to try calling him"
"Ava I'm freezing my arse off here!"
"Im sorry, hold on" she said quickly and i could hear her talking with Jax "are you kidding me??" Ava said before coming back to me "Maddi, he said he got held up but can meet you closer to where he is if you want?"
"Are you fucking kidding me? Ava i don't know where to go do i?!" I was getting more and more angry with the situation "just tell him not to bother. I only agreed to this to shut you up and surprise surprise its gone wrong again"
"Maddison come on, these things happen" she sighed "you want me to come pick you up?" She offered "im good, im just going to grab a taxi back, i saw some out front"
"Okay, im sorry about Matt"
"Its fine, i'll see you soon" i hang up the phone just as the battery dies "Oh shit" just my luck! I throw the phone in my clutch bag and turn towards where the taxi's were.... They've all gone! I feel panicky all of a sudden, i have no idea where i am or where i can get a taxi, my phone died! And im freezing!! I stand on the corner looking out for a cab.... Looking very out of place and awkward!
"Excuse me, are you okay?" A deep voice asks me from behind making me jump "I'm sorry, i didn't mean to scare you" he chuckled "but you look a bit lost". I stare at him for what seems like forever before i answer him "its okay, i was just... Its stupid really" i say feeling like an idiot. "Your not from around here are you?..." He smiles at me "Neither are you by the sounds of it" i noticed his Aussie accent straight away. "Very true but at least i know where i am" he laughed a little and stepped closer holding his hand out to me "I'm Jai" i took his hand and shook it quickly "Maddison" i tell him.
"Your freezing!!" He states, takes off his jacket and wraps it around my shoulders.
"You didn't have to do that" i say quickly feeling bad that his now only wearing a T-shirt!
"Its fine i don't really feel the cold" he shivers slightly and i hold back a laugh.
"So you wanna tell me why your out here alone and stranded?" He asked.
"Erm... It was a blind date, the guy apparently got held up and wanted me to meet him somewhere else!" I said quickly pulling Jai's jacket tighter around me.
"Are you serious?"
"Yep, then to top it off my phone died and i can't get a taxi"
"Wow, so crappy night?" He asked with a sympathetic smile.
"You could say that" i nod and laugh nervously, yes I'm nervous.... This man is gorgeous and i feel like a teenager again! His eyes are amazing, i keep staring!
"well his an idiot for not meeting you" Jai said "you look amazing, his gonna be kicking himself"
"Yeah i bet" i roll my eyes trying to act casual "you want to grab a coffee and i'll sort you out a taxi?" Jai offered surprising me "erm, sure. If its not any trouble for you. You must have people waiting for you" Jai looked behind him down an alley to where people where outside smoking "they probably wont even notice I'm gone" he shrugs "come on i know a place just down the block".
