We had been sitting with my mum for hours, i got up to go to the toilet and stretch my legs.
On my way back to her room i stopped to get myself and Jai a coffee, i stood and stretched trying to shift some aches.
"Hows Helen?" I heard Josh ask from behind me. I felt myself tense instantly "no change" i replied without looking at him.
"Maddison can we talk?.." Josh asked "why are you still here??" I snapped turning to face him.
"I just wanted to make sure you were ok"
"Why do you care?"
"I love you Maddison"
"Josh you have no idea what love is! Your just using this as an excuse to see me!"
"No.... I... I thought you said you were in the US?"
"I was, i came home when i found out"
"Who's the Aussie?"
"His names Jai, and his my boyfriend if you must know" i said taking the coffee's from the machine "go home Josh, your not wanted here". I said turning away from him, before i knew what was going on Josh grabbed my arm. "What the hell?!" I said loudly dropping the coffee.
"Maddison please...." Josh said
"No, get away from me Josh!" I snapped and backed away from him, walking straight into Jai. "Whats going on?" He asked, he looked at how upset i was and the spilled coffee "did he hurt you??" Jai said protectively "no babe, I'm fine. I just told Josh he should leave"
"You heard her, go"
"This is nothing to do with you!" Josh said brushing Jai off.
"Nothing to do with me?? It has EVERYTHING to do with me when you upset my girlfriend" Jai said get stepping towards Josh, Josh stepped closer getting in Jai's face.
"Thats enough!" I said taking Jai's hand and pulling him away "Josh just go! I cant deal with this right now" we started walking back to my mums room "you need me Maddison!!" Josh yelled at me, i turned round "thats where your wrong.! There was a time i needed you Josh... And where were you??!..... Oh right in Kris's bed!" I shouted "i don't need you anymore and i certainly don't want you. There was a time i thought i loved you Josh but i was wrong. Jai is everything your not, and I've never loved anyone like i love him. His the one i need not you.....so just go"
"Maddi you don't mean that..."
"I do!" I snapped "you need to stop with this obsession. Its your fault we didn't work out - you need to live with that instead of trying to ruin the one good thing I've got in my life!"
"He'd never ruin what we have" Jai spoke up "i know babe, but it wont stop him trying" i replied looking up at Jai.
"Come on, lets get back to your mum" Jai said putting his arm around me and leading me towards her room.
Suddenly i could hear alarms going off and doctors and nurses went running to my mums room! "No....." I said quietly and run to her room.
"Whats happening??" I asked them "Ms Taylor, you need to wait outside" Dr Saunders said as they crowded around her.
"Maddison, give them room to help her"Jai said pulling me out of the room. I stood watching them - everything seemed to be in slow motion. I lost focus of what they were doing and i couldn't hear what they were saying, it was like being under water. The alarms stopped and i looked up, Dr Saunders was walking over to me with sad eyes and i felt Jai's arms around me. "No...." I knew what he was going to say, i could feel my heart breaking already
"Ms Taylor im so sorry.... We did everything we could..."
I let out a painful cry and collapsed in Jai's arms, he lowered us to the floor and sat with me in his lap "no she cant be dead!" I sobbed clinging onto him "shhh, I'm so sorry baby" he said softly in my ear.
"If theres anything you need..." Dr Saunders said "thank you" Jai nodded and we were left alone in the hallway.
