Jai picked up his car keys and kissed me "i'll be back soon" he smiled. He was going to pick his parents up from the airport... I was dreading it!
"Okay, drive safe please..... Me and bean want you home in one piece please" i smiled sweetly.
"Okay, i'll do my best" he kissed me one more time and left.
I wandered round the house again for the 20th time making sure everything was tidy and presentable, i didn't want his parents to judge us if it looked too messy. I wanted them to approve of Jai's choice of girlfriend.... My track record of impressing my boyfriends parents wasn't very good! Josh's parents hated me from the moment they met me, i wasn't quite sure what id done though.
I realised i was pacing and picked up the phone to call Ava.
"Hey" she answered almost instantly "hey, Ava I'm shitting myself! Im so scared about meeting Jai's parents!" I told her
"Calm down" she chuckled "at the end of the day it doesn't matter if they like you or not... Jai loves you thats all that matters"
"Your right....." I said nodding to myself, but i could still feel that pit in my stomach. "So how are you? Hows bubba?" i asked trying to keep my mind off of meeting the parents.
"Im good, I've got my 18 week scan tomorrow"
"Thats cool! You finding out the sex?"
"I don't know.... I might just leave it as a surprise" she told me "what will you guys do?"
"Jai wants to know, I'm happy doing whatever"
"You'll find out if thats what Jai wants" she laughed "you do anything to make him happy"
"he does the same for me"
"Its nice seeing you so happy... Shit" she said sounding surprised "whats up?" I asked
"Your secrets out Mad's..... There's something saying that Jai's about to be a daddy in this magazine I'm reading..."
"Your fucking joking...."
"No, theres a photo of you looking at a scan photo at the surgery"
"Those little bitches!...." I remembered the two young girls "who?" Ava asked
"When we went for the scan there were these two young girls who asked for a selfie with Jai, he politely told them it wasn't the time"
"Well your secrets out, do you think his parents know?"
"Shit..... I hope not! Should i call him and warn him?"
"I don't know....they've been on a plane so they might not have seen it yet, this only came out today"
"I'd best ring Jai and give him a heads up...." The door opened and he walked in "too late their here"
"Good luck, call me later"
"Okay, bye".
"Mum, dad, id like you to meet Maddison" Jai smiled at them and put his arm around me "Mad's this is my mum Karen and my dad Chris"
"Its nice to meet you both" i smiled sweetly, Jai's mum came over and hugged me "its lovely to meet you sweetheart, I've heard so much about you"
"All good things i hope..."
"Oh of course! This one has nothing but praise for you" she pointed at Jai "there was a time i thought he'd never settle down" she laughed, Jai rolled his eyes "jeez Karen leave the boy alone his still young" Chris rolled his eyes and i laughed at how much he was like Jai.
"The house looks amazing... Its very homely"
"Feel free to have a wander, Jai can you come help me get some drinks?" I asked
"Sure babe, you guys go have a look around" Jai said proudly.
I took Jai's hand and quickly pulled him to the kitchen "whats the rush?" He asked.
I made sure we were alone before answering "we need to tell your mum and dad about bean" it still made me laugh how we started calling the baby bean! "We will"
"I mean soon! Its public knowledge!!"
"What?? Since when?"
"Ava said its in a magazine she got today.... I think it was those young girls from the surgery!"
"Ok.... I guess we tell them at dinner?" Jai said shrugging
"Tell us what?" His mum asked appearing in the doorway.
"Um......" Jai looked like a deer in the headlights "we...." He looked at me for help, i was surprised he froze "you want me to tell them?" I asked him quietly? Hoping he said no.
"No i can do this" he smiled at me and took a deep breath.
He pulled his wallet out of his pocket and walked over to his parents opening it "mum, dad... meet your grandchild" he said showing them the scan picture he kept in his wallet.
"What??..... Your.... Your pregnant?" His mum said looking at me, shocked by the news "yeah" i nodded
"Oh my god!! Thats amazing news!! Oh Chris we're going to be grandparents!!" His mum beamed looking at his dad, his dad smiled proudly and hugged Jai "congratulations son".
Watching his parents look so proud just brought back the fact i couldn't share this experience with my own parents, especially my mum. She had always wanted grandkids and now she wouldn't be here to go through this life changing event. "You ok sweetheart?" Karen asked me noticing i was getting upset.
"Yeah i'll be okay, i just.... I wish my mum was here for this"
"Oh hunnie..... Im so sorry for your loss, Jai mentioned what happened.... I just want you to know we're here for you. Your family now, anything you need you just let us know" she said hugging me. His parents were lovely.... I don't know why i was so scared about meeting them.
