I wrapped my leather jacket tighter around my body and shivered against the cold air swirling around me as I bumped into Vincent. He grabbed me, steadying me before we carried on walking, following Professor Shay and the rest of our Advanced Empathy and Telepathy class.
"Everything okay?" Vincent asked and I sighed before shaking my head. There was no point in lying to myself and him.
"I've got a bad feeling about this class today."
"Bad how?" I shook my head because even I didn't know what was bad about my feeling. Vincent seemed to understand my inability to voice my thoughts and so he just wrapped his arm around my shoulders, pulling me tighter to his body.
"You seem to be feeling the cold a lot more today?" he asked and I sighed before nodding.
"It happens occasionally."
Professor Shay stopped us outside of a familiar shop and I chuckled to myself causing Vincent to frown at me in confusion. I just smiled and shook my head.
"Okay, is everyone here?" I heard him call and we all nodded our heads, gathering around our Professor in a huddle.
"We're going to start off simple. This class is all about control over your specific abilities and also expanding on the scope that you can use these abilities. Today, I simply want you to open up your minds and/or hearts. I want you to hear the thoughts and experience the emotions of the mortals around us. When you feel that you've heard enough or felt enough then I want you to focus on a different mortal. Always check and make sure you are composed as well. We don't want to out ourselves" Professor Shay explained and I felt the familiar presence of Water in the air which made me grin and wave through the windows of the shop. I got the feeling that Evaline- my grandmother on my mom's side- waved back when she realised I was there.
"Who are you waving at?"
"It's Evaline's shop. She's my mom's mom" I explained and felt Vincent's surprise at hearing this.
"She's a Telepath too, right?" I nodded.
"Telepathic and a Water Elemental with Melvyn blood" I explained and Vincent grinned, seemingly impressed with this.
"I don't want you going any further than the shops either side of this one so just huddle in groups make it look like you're talking to each other and waiting for me to give you orders." Everyone did just as the Professor said, except myself since I walked over to him.
"Professor?" He turned around to look at me and he smiled before nodding, telling me to say whatever was on my mind. Although, Professor Shay was a Telepath as well so he could probably read my mind, especially since I'd reduced my mental barriers to make accessing my psychic abilities easier.
"Do you know who owns the shop we are standing outside of?" I asked and he grinned before nodding.
"Yes I know. I've known Evaline for a few years and when we come to do these practice sessions, I always stand outside of her shop. Being an Elemental and a Telepath means she can help me control any issues I may have with some of my students." I frowned at this.
"Do issues happen often?" He smiled and shrugged his shoulders but didn't provide an answer. I knew that it meant that it depended on the students he had for the class. I nodded before walking back over to Vincent, seeing that he was frowning as he watched me carefully.
"So Professor Shay knows your grandmother?" I shrugged my shoulders and nodded before taking a deep breath and pulling my mental barriers away completely.
I look fat in this dress.
I wish my mom would stop annoying me about my Math results. She knows I hate Math.
