Chapter 28 - Phone Calls

'Did I heard it right..is she saying South Korea!!'

"South Korea" I said in a loud voice and stood up from my place. Everyone glared at me. I sat down in embarrassment.

She continued after glaring at me, "Fill the form  and then prepare a presentation on any one of the given topic. You have to present it before board members and if selected you will be called for final interview. So give your best if you are interested."

I can't describe the happiness I got from that news. I determined myself that no matter what, I will qualify all the rounds and will surely make it upto top 5 candidates.

At night, while having our dinner, I told my friends about the news..they were also happy.

"It's fate, the whole universe wants you to meet Chanyeol." Rakhi said.

"But why that form did not come to my department. I want to go Korea too." Navi felt a bit sad.

"You will leave your husband straight for six months to go Korea?" Manisha teased.

"No..I will take him too." Navi said seriously.

"Wow!!so he will leave his job to accompany his wife to Korea..how will you ask from your professor?" Rakhi laughed.

"I think we were talking about me" I called them back from the diversion.

"Yes yes!! So first thing is don't tell Chanyeol anything about it." Navi said.

"But why?? I exclaimed.

"Are you fool?? Don't you want to give surprise to him?" Rakhi said.

"Yes!! Give your best.. get selected and tell him once you get landed on land of South Korea!!" Manisha said excitedly.

That was a great idea. So I had to work hard without telling anything to Chanyeol.

"Ohk so what you say in Korean.. for all the best?"

"Hwaiting" we all shouted. I was feeling motivated by now.

After dinner, I came to my room. I opened my laptop and searched for more information on website given in the form.

My phone ranged at 11pm. It was an unknown international number..most probably it was looking like Korean number. I was still thinking to pick the call when it got missed.

I kept my phone aside. Started surfing internet for presentation topic.

My phone ranged again. I received the call this time,

"Hello..who is this?" I asked.

"Anneyongasseyo Arushi" Voice came from the other side.

I was shocked it was Suho's voice. It was like he was talking after drinking heavily.

I hang up my phone as soon as I recognised his voice. I don't know why I couldn't bear his voice. I was feeling shattered.

I started getting back his memories which I tried, my best to erase from my mind. I didn't talk about him to anyone.

Last time I read somewhere accidentally that, Surene were great hit in their drama. The fact that they can be a real life couple gave more ratings to it. Still a few episodes were left. And everyone were anticipating that they will give a official call as a couple after drama. They were  also seen together many times at random places. 

These things made me to believe that he has moved on. He was very happy in his life now. He was getting more attention and more popular, which he naturally deserve. So my heart accepted it that there was nothing left in between us.

Then why he called suddenly and that too in drunk state.

I was still thinking about all these when my phone rang again. It was Chanyeol.

"Yebusseyo..what are you doing?" He asked cheerfully.

"Hi..no nothing just reading some articles. You say" I was still lost in my thoughts.

"Is everything fine? Are you not feeling well? Why are you sounding so low?" Chanyeol got worried.

'What should I do? Should I tell him or not? He can over react and can go straight to Suho to ask about it. It will create tension between them, which eventually, is not good for the whole group.'

So I decided not to tell anything about it.

"No I am feeling just tired. I came late, so had my dinner late. That's why.." I lied to him.

"Are you sure?" He confirmed.

"Yes!! So you say..how was your day today?" I tried to change the topic.

"It was good. I went back to home after a long time. Spend my times with abbuji- omma. You know I got a few old photographs of me. I am just sending you."

I checked my Watsapp. We laughed together at his photos. That way we continued with our talks and don't know when we slept.

We got presentation date, it was on 27th December. I had time but still I wanted to give my best and worked hard. I wanted to grab that opportunity. As I had a Delhi trip too, so almost 4-5 days will be wasted due to travelling and tiredness. So I started preparing and completing max of my work before the end of Oct.

I got a call from my mother on one Thursday evening.

"Come home this Saturday. Some guests are coming on Sunday. You can go back hostel in the evening itself." She ordered.

"But who are coming? Is my presence necessary?" I doubted.

"Yes!! That's why we are calling you. You can also take back your winter clothes before going to Delhi."
She said.

"Alright mom" I hanged up my phone.

Next call came from Chanyeol. I told him that I was going home coming Saturday.

"Why are they suddenly calling you?" He got suspicious too.

"I don't know..but something fishy is there." I was not getting any positive vibes from it.

On Saturday evening, I reached home. I could see many changes in the living room area. After dinner, my mother came to my room and said,

"See, don't overreact. I know you will not accept this at first but please listen carefully. It's regarding guests who are coming tomorrow."

I got alert, "What is it mom?"

"Tomorrow, a family is coming to meet you." She said

"What!! Why??"

"Their son is well established. He lives in Delhi. But he is in the town now a days. So we just want you two to meet."

"What!!! How can you think about it without considering me or asking me?? No complete no..I am not ready to meet at all" I shouted angrily.
