"Well, you two seemed happy together. But clearly this song is not just a happy love song. What happened?"
I grinned playfully before answering, "well that's a story for another time."
"So you want a 'another time'?" He said with a smirk.
I scoffed, "well you're the first one who said that."
He cleared his throat and didn't acknowledge the comment that I gave.
"Are you like a hopeless-romantic type of girl who believed there's 'forever'?" He said with his face showing disgust.
"Why? What's wrong with it?" I asked as I raise my eyebrows at him.
"I guess none." He replied but it sounded like he was unsure of his answer. I just rolled my eyes and didn't say anything about that.
"Anyways so," I trailed. "You said you can help me, right?"
"Yea," he nodded. "Actually your chorus is okay. Not bad but not too good either. I can say that I could already feel the emotions you want to say by just reading these few lines. But you said you struggled in writing like the verses, correct?"
I hummed and nodded.
"Well, I'm really no expert. And unlike me, you had some training while I never had one. But I can maybe help you in how to make your brain going."
Jimin then sighed while continuing to look at the notes in my notebook using the faint light from the sign of the convenience store. I just stood there and watch him think.
I was then taken aback at how serious he actually looked. Only like 2 minutes ago, he was so playful and sly. It somehow amaze me at how he was able to switch personas in just 0.0001 second.
"Well, I assume that you already reminisced the time where you have broken up. But, have you ever thought of thinking about the time before the break up?"
I immediately thought about what he said. It made me realize that I never thought of that idea. So, I shook my head 'no'.
"Well, I think it would be good to think about those times when it was still happy. That there's still nothing wrong. And then, after that you can think of the break up. In that way, you can clearly see how it transitioned to happy then sad. If the breakup is recent, I think it could make you feel bitter at how those events turned out. Then you can start writing it down.
"I think a song is like a story. Just written in a few words but those few words can already tell so much. And just like most stories, you start from the beginning. And there the story gradually builds up until it goes to the climax and hits you there in the heart and you could feel the story's emotions to its peak. I think that's one of the ways you can write a good song."
You know what? Watching Jimin talk so seriously makes me think that he's actually not bad. It made me forget about the scene he created at the pub.
The way he spoke with so much wisdom and maturity already says something about himself. And I'm glad that I was able to get help from this man, who was a stranger to me just 30 minutes ago.
"Wow. Thanks. I'll take note of that, Mr. Park."
"Hey, don't call me that." He said as he looks at me with sharp eyes.
Although his face looks serious, it made me laugh and then just suddenly he laughed along with me too.
He then smiled and holds his beer can out to me. Getting the message, I hit my can with his before we drink at the same time. After awhile, I got to finish one can and proceed to open another one.
"Ahh, this is so nice." I said, referring to the fresh, cold autumn air hitting my face while I also feel the warmness in my tummy from the beer that I consumed.
"Yeah but it will be nicer if we exchange numbers." I immediately looked at him when he said that.
"What?!" I asked, all giggly because of the alcohol starting to take up my system.
"What?" He said, sounding so innocently.
"Wait, you're really serious?" I asked him, still giggly. "Do you like me or what?"
"No. It's so that when you needed help in your song again." He said, defending himself.
I put out my index finger out and waved it. "Ahh okay okay. I get what you mean. I'm very sorry, Mr. Park." I said before giggling again.
I then reach out to my pocket and handed him my phone, opening it beforehand.
"Here. You can put your number there and you can save mine too."
While he was typing in the numbers, I continued drinking my second can of beer. When he finished, I then realized that I emptied it out.
He noticed it too, "wait you already drank the two cans of beer?!"
I then looked at the now empty-can of beer in my left hand before looking back at Jimin.
"Oh." I nodded.
"Well, anyway it's getting late. You shouldn't be out here any longer. Can you drive to your home on your own?"
I nodded as my answer.
"I don't trust you. Get in." He said before opening the passenger seat and pushing me into the car.
"Ahh, why? I can drive I'm not even drunk yet. I'm tipsy, but I'm not drunk." I whined and complained.
"Yeah, but I don't want to see the news the next morning that apparently you bump your car or something. Just point me to where your home is and I'll get you there safely." He said while he even puts the safety belt on me for me.
"We are no different. Both of us drank, ya know."
"You drank two cans. And I haven't even opened my second yet." He said before closing the door. He goes in to the driver's seat and started the engine leaving me with no choice.
