one shot: Back to you

The snow did not stop falling.
It continued to pour beautifully all over Seoul, and Jeongyeon sat shivering in the cold night, waiting for Taehyung near the Han River to talk about whatever she had planned.

Taehyung and Jeongyeon were together for almost two years.
Being an idol was not easy, especially when dating an idol. Despite their busy schedules as members of well-known groups, they were able to maintain their relationship successfully.

Jeongyeon was surprised when Taehyung asked her out for the first time in 2017. She never expected it, especially since she thought he had a crush on her fellow member/sister Tzuyu...she even tried to set him up with Tzuyu, thinking it would make him happy, but when he said what he had desired, she was shocked. He called her a fool, accusing Jeongyeon of failing to pick up on the hint he had dropped, which was that Jeongyeon was Taehyung's ideal type.

After much confusion and hesitation, Jeongyeon finally confessed to him--albeit not directly--through her first song, "Love Line."
When there was a camera nearby, Jeongyeon felt more conscious. So it is no surprise that she was caught on camera with her strange behavior whenever BTS was around.

Everything was going well until the storm struck. One day in early 2019, Jeongyeon and Taehyung were summoned by their Pdnims and asked to come to Bighit. 

Flasback

The news that awaited them was not pleasant.
They were caught by Dispatch's eyes and had sent their photos to the companies, threatening to release the photos unless they were paid a large sum. Bighit was ready to announce their relationship, but Jype was not. He continued to argue about the threat that the announcement could pose to TWICE.
Taehyung had heard everything silently, trying to process whatever Jyp was saying. He wanted to do something that would benefit both but could not find anything. Finally, he asked Jeongyeon to choose TWICE, ignoring his pain. He ignored everyone and walked out of the cabin.

End of flashback

That was it; he walked away without hearing what she wanted to say.
Jeongyeon never wanted a separation, but she knew he did it for her, which is what makes her angry the most, but what interests her now is Taehyung's unusual behavior. They had not spoken in 5 months, trying to get away from God knows what.

Jeongyeon, who was angry, never tried to contact him, despite the fact that her fingers were etched to do so, while Taehyung tried to distance himself from her, hoping for a better future for her.

Yesterday, Jeongyeon overheard a conversation between Jihyo and Nayeon about Teahyung's behavior.
Jeongyeon became concerned after hearing the information and immediately went in search of his fancams, which proved that whatever the members were saying was correct. He did not look like himself; he appeared dull in comparison to his cheerful personality.

"Jeongyeon-ah" Jeongyeon came out of the thought and heard a voice from a few distance away.

Jeongyeon squinted her eyes to see if the voice came from the person for whom she was waiting. It was Taehyung.

Jeongyeon slowly lifted her hand to wave at him, and he smiled lightly before sitting beside her. She looked at his face, which had not changed, but there was a deep sadness etched in his eyes. His hair had grown, his eyes were hidden by the bangs, his cheeks had sunken, and his jaw appeared sharper than before.

All Jeongyeon wanted to do was hug and kiss him, but she held back because she had so many questions for him.

After a long silence, Jeongyeon decided to address the issue directly.

"Why are you acting like this?

Taehyung looked at her, as if she had said something ridiculous.

"What"? Taehyung opened his mouth and then closed it, swallowing whatever he wanted to say.

"I asked why you are acting like a sad, heartbroken man who does not have anyone in the world." Jeongyeon inquired, trying to ease her anxiety.

"Well, that is what I am," Taehyung said quietly, turning to face her with blank eyes.

Jeongyeon snorted and took a deep breath, attempting to calm her nerves.

"Can you repeat what you said?Did I ever ask you to break up with me? Was not it all your decision? You did not even wait for my opinion, and now you look like your soul has been sucked out of you. Was this even necessary? Only if you had given me the opportunity to speak with pdnim things would have turned out differently. But you just acted like a sacrificing lover and walked away, asking me to choose TWICE over you, and we have not even had an official breakup and you are claiming to be heartbroken. Seriously, are you kidding me KIM TAEHYUNG?" Jeongyeon ended the lengthy speech with a frustrated sigh. She was supposed to say it calmly but ended up shouting.

Taehyung stared at her and licked his lips before asking her,
"What do you mean?" His eyes were full of hope.

"Yaaah, Kim Taehyung-sshi, do you believe I would have left you to pursue my dream? Do you think I would have been happy if I had accomplished something that resulted in the loss of you, who is more important to me than anyone else? Yes, TWICE is precious to me, but... I am selfish when it comes to you. Do you think I would have survived without you?" Jeongyeon finished by crying.

Taehyung's eyes were also filled with tears. He became extremely overwhelmed by Jeongyeon's words.

He approached her, slowly bringing her into his embrace.
They cried and cried like little babies until Jeongyeon decided to break free from the hug.

"Then why did not you come and see me?" Taehyung inquired as Jeongyeon wiped away her tears.

Jeongyeon scoffs at him and says, "I thought you said I can not live with you, Jeongyeon, do not even fight, let us call every day." She said, imitating Teahyung's voice.

"And I thought you would call me at least to talk, but I was stupid to believe that. Then days and months passed; don't you think I have a right to be angry? And this meeting, I would not have known about you if I had not heard Nayeon Unnie and Jihyo's conversation." Jeongyeon ended with a huff, glaring at Taehyung, who looked down, guilty.

Taehyung did not speak, and Jeongyeon sighed, catching his hands in her palm and asking softly, "So everything is fine now?"

She was confident that things would return to normal. Taehyung lifted his head, causing tears to fall from his eyes.

It made Jeongyeon weak because of the pain he had been carrying in his heart all along. She leaned forward and wrapped him in her embrace. He readily reciprocated, placing his head on her chest.

Nobody spoke, and Taehyung did not inquire about whether the relationship would bother her or how the company would handle it.
After all, if the situation arises again, they will choose each other, and nothing else will matter. Even if the entire world is against them, they will fight back together.
Taehyung tightened his grip, and Jeongyeon knew he was prepared to fight for their love rather than give up.
