3rd Person

Kring! Kring!

Jennie groaned in frustration as she heard her phone ringing. Without looking at who it was she answered.

"Jennie yah! Mianhe." Even though she could not see her bestfriend, Jennie could imagine how Jisoo was already pouting. She simply giggled and sat up finally awake due to the call. "It's okay unnie. I know you missed Rosie that much."

"But I still left you last night." The mention of last night had immediately made Jennie's day turn sour in an instant. And not wanting to worsen her mood, she replied, "Really it was nothing. But if you really wanna make it up to me, treat me for lunch yeah? Anyways gotta go unnie or I will be late see yah later." And immediately hung up. She sighed and immediately groaned as her mind was then again occupied by the person who made her like this. Shrugging away her duvet, she proceeded to the bathroom to freshen up.

~~~~~
"I thought you would bail out on me." Jisoo greeted as soon as I took my seat. "It is a first to see you late in class."
"I just enjoyed my sleep unnie." I lied knowing that I had battled with my thoughts earlier whether or not I should go to school. But I guess Jisoo unnie has that good of a memory when she asked, "By the way what was your emergency last night that you had to leave? It sounded so urgent when I read your message."
"Turns out not to be that important." I excused and thankfully she did not pursue her question further.
As lunch hour began, I was surprised that Jisoo unnie had asked me if Rosie could join us for lunch as it was rare for Rosie to have the same lunch hour as us.
"Did she change schedules?" I asked.
"Not really. She said it was a free period and would want to catch up specifically with you since she did not see you last night."
Upon entering the cafeteria, we saw Rosie waving at us. "I ordered for you guys. I hope you don't mind." I shaked my head indicating it is okay and thanked her for doing so. I was about to pay her for the food when she stopped me. "It's on me Jen." Making me smile.
"Rosie, love is it just you for today?" Jisoo unnie asked.
Rosie nodded. "Yeah the others had a lot on their plate. But Lisa and I finished drafts already. Though that girl is busy with her girlfriend since last night."
"Oh! Speaking of last night, were you able to witness it Jen?" Jisoo giddly asked.
"By 'it' you mean Lisa's relationship reveal?" I asked to which she nodded. "Did not know that your best friend and your step - sister had that moves to snag up a senior. And not just any senior but the person who is known to be quite picky with people she mingles with."
"I doubt that they are serious though. Not that Lisa is a player but everything just happened so fast that it is quite unbelievable for her to commit to someone." Your bestfriend is technically that fast Rosie if only you knew how she had her ways with me you be surprised. I thought.
"Nothing is impossible when someone is in love Rosie." My sappy bestfriend countered. "I did not know you are a romantic, love." Rosie said chuckling at Jisoo's words.
"Especially for you I am." Jisoo replied. I groaned upon hearing my bestfriend's pick up line. "Gosh you guys make me cringe."
"You are just a bitter single person Jendeuk. Not our fault you are surrounded by committed people. And speaking of committed, looks like your step sister had finally made her presence known." Upon hearing Jisoo's statement, I looked at the area where she was pointing at only to see my beloved stepsister wrapped around the arms of her new-found lover.
I must admit the site of them being together made my stomach lurch as if I was about to vomit. Lisa looked at our way waving at her best friend in acknowledgement as to Jisoo as well. But when her eyes met mine, it was I who looked away first not wanting to look at her any further.
It was better this way, me pretending that she does not exist and nothing more but stranger to me.
Or so I thought.
