A Villain's Sonnet

We're quite similar, you and I--

far more than you'd like to admit.

That hellish rage buried inside--

who do you think fuels it?

You burn like the sun, child--

So bright, warm, and stark.

To find you, I dare not tell how many I defiled.

I could not just leave you in the dark.

I held you tight in my dark wings,

only for your light to shine through.

Deep down, it's my lullaby your broken heart sings,

and no one knows the tune-- save for you.

The truth that you, my dear, now know,

is that the fire within you shall never be tame.

I am no villain, and you are no hero;

we are one and the same.
