24: Together Apart"You have a meeting with Quarter's CEO in the afternoon. Also, here is the list of possible tenants who applied to be part of Sonata."
Tong placed a stack of papers over the folder of files that needs to be signed by Mew. He breathed slowly out as Mew appeared to have not heard him.
"Boss Mew." He tried to get his attention.
Mew stared at a particular report, but not really reading what was in front of him.
"Mew." Tong called again, this time placing his hand over the paper.
"Huh?"
Tong sighed and looked at the chart of Gulf's family's store. "How long are you going to be like this? I admit it's a great leap in revenue but you should also focus on other tenants."
"I haven't seen him in a month." Mew said.
Indeed, with the rise of First Textile, which Gulf has rebranded as Chocolate Clothing, came limited meetings for the two of them. In a span of three years, Gulf was able to lift their company's status much to the delight of his family members. Not only where they able to open a new branch, they are also thriving in the online community. He pooled whatever savings he earned from Sonata and added Boat's payment to him to make necessary upgrades – without Mew's help.
He was so proud of Gulf. He won't be known anymore as a slacker, and even AA admitted, albeit reluctantly, that Chocolate Clothing is doing well. It was both his hard work and his face which did it for them.
At first, they were only selling textile, but there were not many people who buys it, so he decided to create men's clothes out of it. But even then, they lack the customers, until he modelled them himself. It made a great impact that women decided to buy it for their boyfriends. On his second year of leaving Sonata, Gulf extended it to women's and children's wear.
Mew fiddled at the hem of his coat. A gift from Gulf, taken from their luxurious collection which he named Debauve, a tribute to Mew's favorite box of expensive chocolates. A product of his blood and sweat which Gulf had launched on his third year. It was like a representation when Gulf isn't there to hug him. How he wished his boyfriend could at least take the time off for them to have an hour date, but no. If Gulf is available, Mew is not. If Mew ditches a meeting, Gulf suddenly has his own.
"You haven't had a vacation in a while. Why don't you take the time off?" Tong suggested, looking at Mew who was lost in thoughts. While he likes that Mew was absorbed in work compared to when Gulf was still in their office, he was also concerned for him. "I'll arrange it. Plan a vacation with him. I can't keep looking at your sulking face."
Thinking that this was a good suggestion, his mood brightened up. "I'll talk to him. I know he's at the main branch today."
"Seriously, you're like a child." Tong shook his head. "Do me a favor will you? And sign all those documents so I can schedule your getaway." And with that he left the room.
