'You're going down old man!'
I yelled, grasping a bomb in my hand as my nails grazed the surface of the destructive object. My sister, the infamous Cherri Bomb, was next to me, already readying her hand to throw yet another bomb at Pentious and his egg accomplices.

'Not if you go down first!' Sir Pentious sent a signal to the egg bois to charge towards us, to which I responded to with a plethora of bombs thrown his way. I launched into battle with my sister, egg bois tried to limit our movement by hanging onto our legs, but we simply punted them across the debris littered battlefield. The whole area was practically destroyed, most buildings either being abandoned or severely damaged, but it was mostly the prospect of Pentious stealing the territory that fuelled this turf war more.

It was a casual fight, something very common now, Pentious had the gall to take Cherri's turf so naturally, we had to take it back. And naturally, it's going to be an easy win.

As egg bois pelted me from all angles, I became swiftly overwhelmed by them, little annoyances they are. I quickly lit a bomb from my back pocket and fired it near enough to me that it might explode some egg bois and distract most of them. As expected, the egg bois all turned around to inspect the sudden noise and to gauge if anything happened to their boss.

I took the opportunity to punch the remaining egg bois off me, heading towards the snake to give him a swift punch to the head. Nodding to Cherri to indicate what I was about to do, I approached Pentious, he was already preoccupied by Cherri's current state and yelling at him egg bois, that he didn't see me approach him.

I was ready to attack, already had a bomb in my hand to throw and had my other hand curled into a fist to throw a couple punches if necessary. Until, I heard a noise behind Pentious, it resembled a fumble, a crash of some detritus caused by some creature. Peering to where I thought the sound came from, I noticed a shadowy figure within the crumbling building before me. I couldn't quite make out the silhouette, it seemed to have a fair bit of clothing on that concealed its actual form. Around its collar, I deducted there was some fluffy material by the way it puffed up and it wore a long coat that trailed to the floor.

The shadow was gone in a matter of seconds, almost like it was purely fictional. It distracted me for a couple seconds, which I guess was long enough for Pentious to register my presence at hit me over the head with a chain.

The impact forced me to fall backwards, my head falling into the dirt, which I was somewhat grateful for since there was large amounts of concrete pieces dotted around the area. With a groan, I rubbed the back of my head, turning to my sister for help.

Sensing my harm and unwilling to carry on at that particular moment, she punched Pentious after he attempted to make a witty comment on the situation. I sighed, perching myself on a nearby rock to watch the encounter; the pain was still throbbing, chain marks visible across my torso, the metal imprinted onto my body to my humiliation.

The two carried on fighting, a mixture of bombs and melee weapons, occasionally an egg boi would try and intervene but he was promptly thrown across the plateau with a horrifying scream.

There was no point, Cherri had this under control like always. I sighed, my blonde hair fanning upwards for a second before settling over my eye. Resting my head on my hand, the figure from earlier came to mind, most demons know never to mess with a turf war so why was that figure there?

I glanced over at the building I saw it at again, my eyes glazing over the ruined establishment to see if there was an indication of who it was. I was met with another crash in the same building, I squinted my eyes trying to see who caused it but despite my efforts, I ceased to find the shadow.

Humming to myself in curiosity, I decided to go investigate. I climbed through one of the numerous shattered windows, making sure I didn't cut myself on the sharp bits of glass that encased the area; roaming the place just below some unstable staircase, I believe I saw the figure in this general space.

Peering into a corner, I scanned the menial objects around, cobwebs covered each crack in the wall and vines entwined around the support columns. Just as I reached out to touch a vine, a voice alerted me.

'Hello, sweetheart.'

Obviously being quite startled by the sudden encounter, I jumped back, turning around swiftly as I reached behind me to grab a bomb instinctively. The figure noticed this, putting its arms up as a gesture of surrendering.

'I'm not going to hurt you, dear.'

The silhouette came into the light slightly, that emitted from some source outside, sifting through the remaining shards of broken windows. It was clear who this demon was - The overlord, Valentino.

'State your business.' I adjusted my position to a more casual stance, crossing my arms.

'Well you see, you are what I need...' he started walking around me in a circle like way, he suddenly grabbed my chin with his thumb, 'you have what I want.'

He stared into my eyes, I noticed his pupils were dilated to a scary degree, as if he was hungry for an answer, it was almost predatory. I've been through a lot of shit in life and in Hell but to be frank, this frightened me. I pushed him back, the sudden closeness alarming me significantly, he jumped backwards gracefully, the same unnerving grin placed on his face, showing off his singular gold tooth.

'Don't you feel like some shadow next to Cherri?' He whispered, a detected danger in his voice. I felt my breath hitch in my throat after his statement, Valentino's expression was unchanging, waiting for my reply.

Clearing my throat slightly, 'well, it would be nice if I were notic-'

'You see. You have more than she has.' He began circling me, adjusting his fluffy collar, 'you have talent.'

Step out the shadows and into the spotlight.

'You help me out and I help you out. We both can benefit. Deal?'

The spotlight where I was the star.

He outstretched his hand.

Not the shadows where I was overlooked by everyone.

I shook his hand.

Where I belonged.
