(3rd Person POV)

The shadow sneaked across the wall, its black miasma slithering into Y/N's room through the door's ajar state. It bypassed her door as it made its way to her bed side to observe her, its glowing eyes darted between her features and absorbed her appearance. A clawed finger reached out to stroke Y/N's ashen cheek, her sleeping self slightly shuddered at the unfamiliar touch but recovered after a few seconds. It reached for her hood, that still concealed her face, its fingers slipping over the fabric as it was unable to grasp it because of the prospect of it being a shadow, possessing more ghost like properties. The shadow growled lowly, gathering all the information it could, exited the room to report back to its owner.

Alastor perched on the neighbouring chair by his bed, his right hand firmly grasped over the arm of the plush chair. The deer demon was flicking through pages of a very strange book, it had strange runic symbols on the cover. As he occasionally adjusted the position of his monocle, his lips pressed into a discontent frown. His attempts of finding out simply what the girl that spiked his interest was was fruitless, barely any information was found on what she could be or what contract she was bound by that made her possibly unable to redeem.

Anyway, Alastor took a small break from reading to take a quick sip of his coffee, whatever she was, she, most likely, was a very powerful source and.. humph, Alastor thought for a minute, he would have to do a bit more research on her kind as he returned the book to the large book collection he shelved.

A shadow suddenly appeared by his side, patiently waiting for Alastor's acknowledgment,
'What information did you collect on her?'

It grumbled, the noise awfully similar to a growl, as it relayed the information it learned to Alastor in a raspy low voice.
'Her name is Y/N and she has ashen skin, but I was not able to see her hair because of the hood, she's hiding something, I know it'.

'Is that all?' Alastor almost growled himself, it barely told him anything about her kind as the shadow quivered under Alastor's condescending tone.

'That's it?' The deer demon's smile seemed to get impossibly wider, his claws curled into a threatening position. He then proceeded to laugh, a laugh that echoed around the room, that pierced the atmosphere in the harshness of it. From deep inside his chest came a great shaking motion, to such an extent, his body folded forward, clutching his stomach.

Alastor retracted his current position, returning to his normal stance, while still laughing of an evil nature, his hand flying up to his forehead in a moment of disbelief. Suddenly, he came in extremely close proximity to the shadow, almost breathing down its throat.

'You better come back with more information next time'.

Runic symbols levitated around him as his eyes turned into dials, the area around him becoming dark with an inky abyss. The shadow scampered away in fright as Alastor sighed, opting to search through the ever growing pile of books he had acquired.
