Hi everyone, I truly appreciate all your support, I can't believe we're nearly at 50k! :D! I'm really sorry for the lack of stories, been feeling extra stressed lately ever since school started a couple weeks back, my mental health hasn't been the best and I've been so busy with studies and drawings, I apologise. I feel as if I've lost my motivation for writing as of late and fallen out of the Hazbin Hotel fandom, I'm so unexplainable guilty for the fact that I've acquired so many views and votes when I barely write any chapters. I do love all you guys but I don't think I deserve it. I'm contemplating putting this book on hiatus temporarily, but I haven't reached my final decision yet. <3
On a happier note, I hope stets_uninu74 enjoys this story, I never fathomed how difficult it is to write for Katie, we all know she can be a real bitch sometimes so I didn't know what direction this was going to go. I apologise if this was a bit all over the place.
A happy smile.
'And we're live!'
It was another day in the news station, another day of being hurled insults, another day of shouting coworkers. Another day of being the assistant director.
Katie and Tom were sitting within camera shot as it panned to them, after a prolonged period of shuffling and bickering, Katie started to speak of trivial news stories and the like, while I monitored the area.
'Welcome back! So Charlotte,' an audible cracking noise was head from her neck.
'It's Charli-'
'Whatever, anyway, we heard about your little "passion project", could you tell us more about that, hm?'
Charlie began to talk about her new idea of a rehabilitation hotel for demons, which warranted many dirty and confused looks, some, which came from Katie, was absolutely disgusted.
'You what?! You want to rehabilitate demons?!' She aggressively got in Charlotte's face, pointing an accusatory finger at her. Dots of spit splattered on the princess' face as she laughed hysterically, accompanied by Tom's and the audience's mocking cackles.
Charlotte noticeably shrunk down, her smile faltering greatly, as much as I did think it was a simply stupid idea, I grew more worried as time went on. Most people that worked here knew that Katie had truly unpredictably mannerisms, one moment she could be laughing, next jumping down your throat for a candid remark.
But I suppose I couldn't be mad. She got here herself through hard work, well supposedly, but others.. got their success and future handed to them on a golden platter.
And, I glanced at the two, Charlie attempting to explain her new idea but being heckled by Katie, and some don't even make the most of their situation and fail.
'Oh well, how do you feel that I got your pen, huh? Bitch!'
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Chaos.Everybody stopped laughing, turning their attention to the inevitable reaction of Katie. Starting to fret, I lurched forward, dropping my paperwork in the process, as I tried to stop Katie from getting out of hand. Large, spider like arms emerged from her torso, almost ripping the seams of her dress apart as she towered over the princess, an unexplainable aura now surrounding her.
Charlie held her gaze with the now red eyed demon as I waved my arms about to break the tension. A few of my other coworkers joined me in a combined effort, until one of them managed to-
'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA SOMEONE SPILLED COFFEE ON ME! OH YOU'RE FUCKING BURIED!' Katie screeched, her extra arms retracting back into her body as she frantically looked around trying to identify the culprit and assess the horrendous damage on her dress.
Everyone looked at her with such fear embedded in their eyes, nobody daring to utter a single word as she glared at the camera, who unfortunately did not cut to stand by at this point, Katie saw herself in the reflection.
Her usual confidence and anger faded, as if it just dissolved into the very floor she stood on, she was paralysed in position, only her arm gliding up her chest to her cheek as she lightly pressed her palm to her face. Katie's eyes fell down her figure to the large coffee stain down her dress.
'UGH!' She stamped her foot and pushed her way through the crowd that gathered to the exit. The door flew open, almost being thrown off its hinges as she presumably left the building.
I signalled to the demon manning the camera to put it on stand by for the time being, which they obliged to after getting over the initial shock.
Katie had never stormed out of the studio before.
A plethora of hushed comments amassed from the surrounding demons, some glancing and gesturing at the door Katie just stormed out of.
I managed to catch a few of their conversations,
'Is anyone going to go after her?'
'No dude, she's a bitch, she had what was coming to her.'Whispers.
Whispers.
Whispers.
'Where are you going?'I dashed out of the door, sprinting down the numerous flights of badly maintained stairs till I got to the ground floor. Exiting the building, I scouted the area, my eyes gliding over the garbage that adorned the alleyway and scattered litter among the dirt sewer waters.
Katie was leaning against a wall, smoking a cigarette, water droplets from the clouds overhead hung from her tufts of hair, threatening to fall into the abyssal below. Her eyes were had lidded, not shrouded with the normal egotistical glare.
'What are you doing here, Y/N?' She tore her eyes away from her cigarette to me.
'I wanted to know.. if you were doing alright? You sorta.. nevermind, I kinda..' I stepped back slightly, fumbling with the tips of my fingers slightly.
'No it's fine. I just,' she pondered the question for a while, humming to herself in contemplation, 'I've changed. I used to be unimportant. I used to be insignificant. A true speck in the whole scheme of life. But now, now my dear Y/N..'
Katie approached me, tipping up my chin subtly with her index finger.
'Now I'm at the top.''I have money.
I have social status.
People are afraid of me.''What's what I want, right?'
She dropped her grasp on my chin as she gazed straight into my eyes, I drew in a sharp intake of breath.
'So why do I feel so incomplete?'I sighed lightly, feeling her cold breath on my cheek.
'It's ok to feel incomplete sometimes. It's ok to feel as if you're just scraping the surface. It's ok.'
'Sometimes all we need is a little encouragement. And I know my opinion isn't worthy-'
'No. I value your opinion, Y/N.'
Rain conjured a pattern upon my skin, the cold droplets wrapping my body in a comfortable seal. Drops fell steady and soft, falling from the crimson sky above as Katie grasped my hand.
Light flooded throughout the city and for the first time she smiled.
It wasn't a malicious smile.
It wasn't a mocking smile.
It was a happy smile. And I happy smiled back.
