"Mark?" Donghyuck asked in a soft tone

"Mark?" Donghyuck asked in a soft tone. The doctor had to take Mark out of Donghyuck's medical room, explaining everything.

-

"Donghyuck, he's gotten in an accident a few days ago, causing him to get into a small coma. We're glad he's awake, but he doesn't remember much, we did a few tests on him, he keeps asking for you. I think he remembers you, but not much after his last memory," the doctor explained.

"What was his last memory?" Mark asked him.

"He mentioned something about his birthday, that was two months ago I believe," the doctor said. Mark nodded, he walked inside.

-

"Hey, Donghyuck, how are you feeling?" Mark asked. Donghyuck furrowed his eyebrows, he wasn't familiar with that.

"Why aren't you calling me baby?" Donghyuck asked, he looked a bit confused at the boy.

"Ah, I'm sorry, baby," Mark said, he carressed Donghyuck's cheek.

"I'm sorry I worried you, baby," Donghyuck muttered, embracing Mark.

"No, it's fine, I'm just glad you're alive, babe," Mark lied, kissing Donghyuck's forehead.

"What day is today?" Donghyuck asked, tilting his head.

"Uh, it's August 20th," Mark said, stroking Donghyuck's head.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I can't remember, but what did we do on your birthday?" Donghyuck asked. Mark gulped, he smiled.

"You planned a surprise party for me," Mark said, Donghyuck frowned.

"That's all?" Donghyuck asked.

"Yeah, I'll explain more in detail when you get more rest for now, alright baby? I need to leave, visiting hours is almost over," Mark said, guilt hitting him like a truck. Donghyuck happily nodded, unaware of living a lie that would impact him for a long, long time.

Mark left, biting the bottom of his lip harshly. Mark didn't want to lie, but he had to.

-

Donghyuck had a swift recovery and was able to remember a several things, that's all. But, not that day. That day was the reason for his accident.

"Hey babe, I have to tell you something, I hope you don't get mad," Mark said, picking up the phone to calling his lover.

-

Many months later, Donghyuck spotted Mark with someone else.

"Mark, who's that?" Donghyuck asked, getting all defensive.

"Donghyuck, come here, I have to tell you something," Mark said, he dragged the younger away.

"Who's that?!" Donghyuck asked, sounding a bit pissed.

"Donghyuck. I didn't wanted to tell you this, but before your accident, we already broke up," Mark spoke. Donghyuck froze.

"W-what?" Donghyuck asked in a low soft tone.

"We already broke up. A few days after my birthday. I told you that I wanted to break up since I wasn't having any strong sincere feelings, like romantic ones for you. Only platonic," Mark said, he could feel the guilt rushing into his blood stream. Donghyuck suddenly felt lightheaded as memories rushed through his head. Mark caught the boy on time, he called the ambulance for them.

He felt Donghyuck's unconscious body, he was shedding tears as he was unconscious. Mark held him tightly in his arms, apologizing to him. Now, even though you lose feelings for a person, you will still care for them even though you've moved on, but those feelings are still with you. Just, platonically. If you didn't feel that, probably meant that it was fake or something else.

Donghyuck was transferred into the hospital, with a swift recovery. He was having a hard time since Mark had made him remember.

-

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Mark asked awkwardly when he walked into the room. Donghyuck didn't bother to look at him, just sitting in silence. Mark sat down next to him, softly stroking his hair as Donghyuck bursted out crying, in a slow and painful sob.

Donghyuck couldn't believe it. They've broken up and the reason of his accident was probably because of that reason. Now, Donghyuck has no one to love. He appreciated the effort of Mark faking it for him, just to keep him happy.

The End~
