The fleet warped out of hyperspace and were greeted by a space pirate fleet that had just arrived . The two fleets immediately began firing on eachother and pirate fighters deployed in retaliation. Amidst the ensuing chaos Samus made her way through the battle taking out any pirates that got in her way. She flew through the atmosphere of the planet and down toward the locations of the signals the federation gave her.
The clouds departed revealing icy biomes below. No doubt Ridley brought the metroid here as a way to exploit its weakness to cold. The gunship landed at the edge of a large frozen lake. The landing pad descended and the bounty hunter stepped back onto the ground of the world that she had hoped she had seen the last of. There was no life around in the visible distance. And despite the thick layers of armour , Samus still felt a chill crawling up her spine, she couldn't tell if it was the cold or perhaps the anticipation of what was coming next. She walked toward an opening in an ice shelf to her left and constantly had her head looking all around her. Never had her attention been more laser focused than in this moment! As she approached the opening she heard a howl and the shapes of 6 wolf like creatures made their way down the slope toward her.
"Morphology: Zarabat. Pack based predators capable of tremendous speed and ferocity these creatures are not to be messed with! Scans are unable to detect the presence of x organisms in the subjects so it is unlikely these animals are infected "
3 of the zarabats started circling Samus and the other two stayed on top of the slope ready to pounce at the opportune moment. One of the circling animals lunched at her from behind and she swerved to her right , grabbing its right frontal leg and slamming it into the ground with force , ending its life with a shot through the skull. She charged a shot and slammed her cannon into ice sending the charged beam scattering and killing the other zarabats. The last two jumped down and approached slowly but it made no difference as she quickly finished them off aswell. With the zarabats out of the way she continued up the slope to the hole in the ice shelf. Beyond the hole was a frozen cave. Trapped within the walls Samus could see many different creatures, some she encountered before such as hornotoads and some she had never seen before that looked more prehistoric. She continued forward until the cave got narrow and reached a dead end . One super missile later and the ground shattered sending Samus downward, she somersaulted then landed with one knee on the ground . This larger cavern appeared to be the bottom of a river where the frozen sides cut off the water supply and let it slowly evaporate over a long period of time. Bones of long dead fish still jutted out of the icy floor , an eerie reminder of the death that was slowly corrupting the land.
Samus followed the river for about a mile before spotting a broken stalactite on the ground, she climbed and somersaulted her way up and out of the frozen river bed. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted a blood trail on the ground that lead away from the river. It was fresh! She kept her hand on her arm cannon and cautiously followed the trail .
