Samus walked along the ocean floor looking at her map data to see where she her next target would be. Shockingly it was deeper, deep into the mantle of the planet. Samus had been into the mantle of planet Zebes when trying to find Tourion but Zebes was mostly hollow, SR388 only had a few natural cave systems and even less this deep down.
Her foot hit something and she tripped, sending sand floating up . She looked down at where her foot was and noticed the tip of a metal spike jutting a meter of the ground. Curious she got to her knees and scanned it.
"Target is part of a massive ring system that runs deep inside the mantle in every direction. Spikes are placed several miles apart. It would seem this ring is of chozo origin and is some sort of planet destroying weapon. Once activated the rings will break out of the ground and close together causing large chunks of ground to collapse in on itself."
"Holy shit.. I know what I need to do. They've given me the answer to all of this!!"
Samus began digging away at the ground near the spike and found a small round slot. She went into morph ball and the slot powered up and beamed her inside the ring. She was now In a hollow hallway lit up with yellow symbols on the left wall that lit up every time she took a step. She couldn't seen the right wall but knew it had to be several miles away. She walked straight following the left wall . If this weapon was hollow it had to lead somewhere! Her scan visor revealed symbols on the wall that told the story of why this weapon was built and chronicled the entire history of the chozo on this planet .
The chozo first came to SR388 10,000 years ago and seemingly had ties to the origins of the X parasites! This weapon was created shortly after and then they left before another exploration team accidentally stumbled upon the planet 2,00 years ago and created the metroids to wipe out the x.
"This can't be... why would they create such awful abominations and then create more monsters just to destroy the first?. " she quizzed herself with concern.
The symbols went on to describe the leader of the first expedition. It was grey voice! the one responsible for the executions of the survivors of the metroid experiment on this planet!
Samus felt her blood boil. All the major events she was involved with so far had all been connected with this one chozo. His actions had consequences in her life 2 separate times! Who knew where he was now or what he was up to.
She kept reading but the symbols wouldn't reveal anymore about why grey voice had come here or why he created the x parasites. She was desperate for answers but there was none. She would have to find him herself some day. If he was still alive.
- some time later she discovered a second round slot, after using it she emerged in a cave that led upwards . Conveniently she was at the second location she was heading to and she presumed she was about come face to face with another core x.
