When I woke up the first thing I saw was Melody. With a bruise on her cheek. "Oh, God! Melody, I'm so sorry," I say as I sit up and she shakes her head. "It wasn't you. It was the nogitsune. Really, it's not that bad."

"But-"

"Shh, it's not you're fault. This'll heal." I close my eyes and pinch the bridge of my nose. "I'm starting to think you should stay away from me. Next time it might be something that won't heal," I say softly and open my eyes, looking over at her. She blinks and stays silent.

"Stiles, do you remember what I told you the other night?" She asks after a few minutes. "Yeah."

"I said I wouldn't abandon you just because it gets hard."

"But this isn't me walking miles into the woods, not realizing how I got there! This is me killing people! And look at your face! That wasn't meant to hurt you, it was his way of sending a message to me! Next time it'll be worse."

"Stiles, I don't care! I won't let you push me away." I turn away from her and she cups my face with her hand and turns me back to her. "Stiles, I care about you so much, please don't push me away. Not now." I nod and she presses her forehead to mine, sighing. "Melody, if we make it out of this I promise I'll take you out on a proper date."

She laughs lightly and pulls away to look into my eyes. "I look forward to it."

"Stiles." I blink a few times before looking over at my dad. "You thinking about her?"

"Always," I say and he gives me a small smile. "How'd she take the news?"

"She wasn't happy about it. But she eventually accepted it. Does the guilt of making a girl cry ever get easier?" I ask sad/jokingly already knowing the answer. "Only if you're a jackass."

"Oh, well that's good to know," I say as he pulls up to the gate of Eichen House. He puts it in park and I look at him, trying to ignore the sadness in his eyes. I get out after grabbing my bag and he follows suit. He comes around the car and stops beside me. I stare up at the large building. Suddenly I hear the sound of a bike engine approaching and I know who it is without having to look.

I turn and sure enough there is Scott on his bike. He takes his helmet off and rushes up to me. "Melody told you didn't she?"

"Yeah, but why didn't you tell me?"

"Because we wanted to avoid something like this," Dad says and I nod. "It's only 72 hours."

"This is the same place where Barrow came from. The guy who had a tumor inside him filled with flies. You don't know everything yet," he says looking at my Dad. "I know enough. Nogitsune, kitsune, oni, or whatever they're called."

"Wow, that was actually all surprisingly correct," I say and nodding. "Scott, I saw an MRI that looked exactly like my wife's. And it terrifies me." At the mention of that I stare down at the ground, he's not the only one that's terrified. "I'm headed down to L.A. tomorrow to talk to a specialist."

"Then why are you putting him in here?"

"He's not. It was my decision."

"Stiles, I can't help you if you're in here."

"And I can't hurt you."

"Deaton's got some ideas. Argent's calling people. We're gonna find something. If we can't..." He trails off and I cut in. "If you can't..." I step forward and say it close to his ear. "If you can't, then you have to do something for me, okay? Make sure I never get out. And tell Melody I'm sorry but she can't come anywhere near me if things go south. Tell her to stay away, please."
