I enter the police station since Derek is supposed to be getting released. I see him standing at a desk talking to one of the deputies. "Derek!" He turns to look at me and smiles. I rush over and wrap my arms around him. He returns the embrace and I smile.
"This property belongs to me and the charges were dropped. Although, I'm not exactly sure who's responsible for that." I pull away from Derek as Noah walks up. "I am. I'll take care of this, Parrish."
"Sheriff, I'm not kidding. This thing's a few watts from being a lightsaber." Noah takes the device from him. "I said I'll take care of it." He looks over and gestures us to follow him, so we do. I enter his office with Derek and Chris. "Should I really be here?" I ask feeling like I'm intruding on a private conversation.
"You're part of the group now," Derek says and I give him a small smile. "And given the fact how close my son and your daughter are I thought you should be apart of this. Parent to parent." I nod in understanding and Noah sets Chris' “lightsaber” on his desk.
"Now the specialist I saw in LA told me the thing that every doctor says when he's trying to avoid a lawsuit. “We can't say for sure.” And then I spoke with Melissa." He brings out something and presents them to us. "These are brain scans. My wife's and Stiles'." He hands them to Chris and Derek and I look down at them.
"I knew they were similar. But those are the same," Noah says as Chris lines them up to show exactly that. "Exactly the same."
"And I'm guessing this isn't possible?" Derek asks looking up at him. "Not even remotely."
"So the trickster is still playing tricks," Chris says throwing the scans down onto the desk. "But why this trick?"
"When I was in the Army, an officer told me “If you want to defeat your enemy, you don't take away their courage. You take away their hope.”"
"You don't look like a man who gives up hope easily."
"But Stiles might. If this thing inside him, if it's using his mother's disease as some sort of psychological trick, then this isn't just a fight for his body. It's also a fight for his mind. Right?"
"You know, he's left people severely injured?"
"And others severely dead."
"But none of this was his fault," I say looking at them sternly. "That's why I need all of you. I need people who are experienced in this kind of thing. I need you to help me stop him."
"And by stop him, you mean trap him," Chris says and I feel a small relief. Even though Melody has been attacked by Stiles, she wasn't severely harmed. And I don't think that's what the nogitsune was trying to do. He's just playing a game. Noah nods and picks up the device from his desk and holds it out to Argent.
Chris looks down at it before grabbing it. We leave the station and head back to the apartment building where Chris called Allison in advance. Once inside Argent's apartment Allison meets us and takes us into Chris' study. I see a bunch of stuff splayed out across his desk.
"This is everything nonlethal I could find."
"Take all of it."
"What's the plan?" I ask looking at them. "Our best shot right now is for Derek to try and pick up Stiles' scent at Eichen House. Especially if he went through something stressful there."
"Should all four of us be going to the same place?"
"Where else has Stiles been showing up?"
"School, the hospital."
