I walk out of the Calaveras building beside Scott who is currently carrying a passed out Melody. "So, you're just letting us go?" Scott asks Araya as we step out into the sun. "I sent four men out to where Kate was rumored to have been seen. None of them came back. Let's see if you can do better."

"You could've just told me she was alive."

"You wouldn't have believed me. Now I know what kind of Alpha you are." He looks at her in confusion and hands Melody off to me. I take the unconscious girl from him and she in her sleep, wraps her arms around my neck. I smile down at her happy to know she's alive.

"And where your next step lies."

"What next step?"

"When you take the bite of an innocent, when you make a wolf of your own, when you do that, then I will cross your border and come knocking at your door," She says and I look down at Melody. Too late. She walks away and I let out a breath.

"So, glad Melody was too busy healing and wolfing out to tell her anything. So what now?" I ask him as we approach our friends. "She thinks she knows where to find Derek."

"She going to tell us where?" Malia asks and Scott squints against the bright sun. "Uh, actually, she's giving us a guide." I hear an engine approaching and turn to see someone on a motorcycle. I jump back, careful not to jostle Melody as this person parks.

She pulls off her helmet and looks at us. I see some nasty claw scars on her neck. "You know her?" I ask Scott looking over at him. "Braeden."

"Who's Braeden?"

"She's a mercenary."

"Right now, I'm the only one who's gonna take you to la iglesia."

"The Church?" Lydia asks and I look at them in confusion. "What's The Church?"

"It's not a place you'll find God." We get into the Jeep as Braeden starts her engine again. "Who's going to hold Melody?" Malia's eyes glow blue and I knew she's definitely not up for volunteering. "I'll do it," Kira says and settles into her seat. I set Melody down in her lap, having her feet rest on the floor. Kira wraps her arms around her best friend to make sure she doesn't get knocked off.

"Thanks, Kira." She nods and I get into the driver's seat and start following Braeden into the desert. It's silent in the car for almost an hour before Malia leans forward. "Okay, I'll ask. Who's Kate Argent."

"Uh, I'd like to know, too," Kira says and I glance at the mirror to see her with her hand raised, keeping one arm around a deep asleep Melody. It's probably the first full rest she's had in awhile, but then again I don't know what happened to her while she was with the Calaveras or even what happened before that.

"Well, we were at her funeral. So, I'd like to know how she got out of a casket that was buried six feet underground," I say focusing back on the road, making sure to keep Braeden in my view. "She was never in it," Scott says and I glance at him briefly.

"She was Allison's aunt. And a total sociopath," Lydia says and Scott gets a somber look on his face. "You don't have to talk about it now if you don't want to," Kira says and Malia shakes her head. "Um, yes, he does."

"Yeah, she's right. You guys should know. You need to know."

"Alright. Kate was the one who set the fire that killed most of Derek's family," I start and let Scott continue. "Some of them survived, like Cora and Peter."

"A very angry Peter," Lydia says and I remember how monstrous he looked back then. "Yeah, he's the one who bit and turned me."

"And the one who finally caught up to Kate and killed her."
