VK POV

Later that night, the VKs went down to the kitchen before the curfew was put into effect. Mal had chosen the spell and was mixing up some batter for the cookies,

"Are we almost done yet?"

Carlos tiredly groaned,

"Almost, we just need one tear of human sadness. And I never cry so I don't know how we're gonna get that"

Harry scoffed,

"Edgy"

He sarcastically murmured as he cleaned his hook with a rag. Mal shot a glare at him,

"Can't we just cut up some onions?"

Jay said as he picked some up and tossed them in his hand,

"Nope it has to be an actual sadness tear, this spell gets the best reviews so we are following it exactly"

Mal said as she reread the spell,

"What's the difference?"

Jay groaned, they had been there for an hour or so now so they were all quite tired,

"Well while reflex tears also have enzymes and amino acids, emotional tears have more protein-based hormones"

Evie said nonchalantly. She continued what she was doing before as everyone paused to look at her,

"Listen to you"

Mal said rather impressed,

"At least one of us is paying attention in class"

Harry said with a laugh. Harry paused when he heard footsteps, he walked over to Mal and used the rag he was using to clean his hook and tossed it over the spellbook to her confusion. Moments later Lonnie came in,

"There you are Mal, I've been looking everywhere for you!"

Mal furrowed her brow, Harry slowly backed up and leaned against one of the tables, hooking his hook back onto his belt loop which has become its new home since he can't exactly carry it around all the time on his hand,

"Why is that?"

Mal said, forcing a smile,

"Everyone wants you to do their hair"

She said with a bright smile. She looked into the bowl of unfinished cookie dough,

"Oh! Midnight snack huh? Whatcha making?"

She said as she swooped her finger into the bowl and ate some of the dough off of her finger. Everyone got tense as Mal semi shouted,

"Just cookies- no!"

"Wait!"

Carlos added as she ate the dough. She looked at them with semi-wide eyes,

"What? I'm not gonna double-dip"

They all froze for a second waiting for something to happen, but sure enough, she didn't seem effected,

"Feel anything?"

Evie said,

"Yeah, like maybe it's missing something?"

Mal finished. Jay swooped in and got close to Lonnie,

"Hey there~"

He purred in a wannabe seductive tone. She looked him up and down for a second in utter confusion,
