"What do you mean you have a game Friday?! Do you know what Friday is?" Jaycee asked Jared at the lunch table, Wednesday noon.

Jared sighed, "Yes, but we have a football game, Jayc. At 7:00..The whole team is still going to come, and many people are too. Just after the game, so reschedule it to later.."

Jaycee rolled her eyes, "Are you kidding me?"

"Jaycee, stop being a little brat!" I yell.

She was being super rude, like all the football players were just going to miss their games just to go to her party.

No.
That's not how it goes.

"I'm not being a brat! I just don't want this party to be a fail.." She whined.

Jared wrapped his arm around her, "And it won't, sweetheart. I promise.."

Woah, woah, woah. Stop..
Sweetheart is my name!

"Sweetheart?!" Everybody at the table stops talking and looks at me.

Jaycee lifted her eyebrow, "What?" She spat.

"Sweetheart is...." Well I can't say my name because that wouldn't seem right. I just sort of didn't like the fact that he just called her that. He always calls me that.

"Sweetheart is what?"

"Is something a teacher would call her student. Pshh.." I laugh.

Jared looked down at his tray hiding his smile. I wanted to reach across this table and punch him.

None of that is funny!

I'm pissed.

"Okay, Arianna." Jaycee said highly confused.

I looked at Jared again, who was still trying to maintain his laugh. It just made me angry more and more by the second.

Why does he like to see me so annoyed with him?

Just ignore him, eat, and listen to the nearby conversations.

I put a nacho full of cheese in my mouth, and chewed looking the other direction from him, but on the corner of my eye I could see him.

Don't make a scene.

Why was the fact that he called Jaycee sweetheart getting to me this easily?

Because you love the guy, dummy. My inner conscience said

Um, probably not the reason but good try.

At least you said probably, so it might be a chance.

I rolled my eyes, and took a deep breath.

It calmed me a bit.

"Oh, so Jayc-"

"Sweetheart- oh sorry. Were you about to say something to her?" Jared cut me off.

On purpose.

Jared knew exactly how to get under my skin.
I lost it.
