It was half-past two on a Friday afternoon when Jimin hit the office cafeteria. Of all the three companies he worked for in the past five years, Jeon Corporation offered the best food to its employees.

"Boss left early?" Byeol asked as Jimin adjusted the food tray in his left hand and scooped a healthy dose of kimchi jjigae.

"Yeah."

"That's odd. Did he say why?" Her brows knitted curiously.

Jimin shrugged a shoulder. "He doesn't have to. He told me to cancel the engagements for the rest of the day and I did," he said nonchalantly and offered to hold her drink while she filled her plate.

"Hmm..." she hummed in response.

Two weeks had rolled by and Jimin had settled well in his position. Jungkook's response was still minimal and he talked only if he had to. Jimin tried to shrug off the awkward silence that followed every time he stepped into the same space as Jungkook. His boss wasn't socially awkward, not in the least. But he went extremely silent at the sight of him. Jimin couldn't fathom the reason. But then again, Jungkook didn't talk much to the others either. The only time he saw him talking to the board members of the vice presidents was during the meeting.

"Has Jungkook always been like this?" he found himself asking Byeol as they settled their trays on the corner table by the window that offered a good view of the garden below.

"Always like what?" Byeol lifted a brow.

"Silent." Jimin frowned.

"Yeah, he isn't much of a talker," she said and fixed him with a concerned gaze. "Is everything alright?"

Jimin forced a smile. "Yep. It's just he's different from what I have seen in the newspapers."

Byeol chuckled. "The media loves to exaggerate." She stirred her soup. "So what are you doing this weekend?"

"Nothing." Jimin shrugged a shoulder as he chewed the food, absolutely enjoying the flavor that exploded in his mouth. "What about you?"

"I have some friends coming over. We might hit the shopping mall or a movie."

Jimin hummed eating a spoon full of rice.

"Hey Jimin!" He turned his head slightly to look at the source of a cheery voice and smiled when he saw Soomin. She worked in the accounts. Her peach colored chiffon tops slid off her left shoulder when the rested her palms on the table. They had met a few times in the elevator and the cafeteria. "Are you free this weekend?"

Jimin swallowed the food, his smile still in place. He tried not to squirm under her intense gaze. "No. I'm meeting my friends." He had no plans. His friends had work this weekend. So, he was all alone.

"Ah, bummer. I really wanted to invite you for a drink." She planted her hands on the table with a pout.

"Thanks, but I'm busy."

"No problem. Maybe next week then," she asked hopefully and Jimin just shook his head with a smile.

"Let's see."

Soomin opened her mouth but closed it when Jimin ignored her and focused on his phone. Then she took it as her cue to leave him.

"She seems to like you," Byeol commented with a small smile once she was out of earshot.

"I don't do workplace relationships. Unnecessary drama." He rolled his eyes. While Jeon Corporation necessarily didn't prevent employees from dating, Jimin had seen enough in his past job. Dating was good, but breakups often ruined the peaceful environment in the office due to the strained relationship of the employees. Only few were mature enough to maintain a platonic relationship, but the others...a lot of drama.
