A/N: Mention of accident, minor character death and panic attack ahead.

There were three accidents and the emergency ward needed an extra pair of hands. That was all Jin knew until he rushed to the trauma care center earlier that night. However, nothing had prepared the doctor for the scene that unraveled in front of him. The two most important people in his life were fighting for their lives.

Five hours later, Jin stepped back from the operation table, visibly relieved and exhausted. He sagged onto the floor, his mask and gear were still intact. They had succeeded in resuscitating the patient, who was none other than Katy. He eyed the several monitors hooked to her and let the professional mask slip for a bit.

Tears stung his eyes as he tried to focus on his breathing. Treating injuries like this always took an emotional toll on the doctors. No matter how many lives they saved, their hearts always ached for the ones they couldn't save. Tonight, they almost lost her.

A mini-van transporting construction site laborers had run off the road, leaving all of its occupants injured. The victims were transported to the closest hospitals and the trauma care was flooding, considering St. Marie's was one of the closest and biggest hospitals in the city. Now Jin doubled as an occupational therapist and a talented surgeon. He preferred occupational therapy since it was much emotionally less demanding. But he never turned down the opportunity to help in situations such as this.

A couple of minutes has passed and he knew he had to go out and meet the others. His fellow doctor would have already told them about her condition. But Jin couldn't bring himself to face them yet.

Jimin was soaked in blood and unconscious when they were brought in. Upon closer inspection, they soon discovered it was Katy's blood. He was yet to find out the details, but from what he could gather, she had sustained the worse this time. With a shaky breath, he climbed to his feet, checked her vitals once more, and left the room.

When he slipped out of the operation theatre fifteen minutes later, his heart clenched. Portia lifted herself from one of the chairs, eyes damp, red and swollen, unspoken question was written all over her face. Beside her, Alvie looking equally disheveled if not worse clutched Portia's hand in a tight grip. How was he supposed to tell them?

Jin inhaled deeper, sweeping his gaze around. Hoseok looked at him expectantly, his eyes searching and body trembling in the arms of his best friend, Yoongi.

"Her vitals are stable," he managed to get out the words that refused to leave his mouth. It wasn't entirely a lie. "We were able to stop the internal bleeding. We will keep her in observation for the next forty-eight hours." He refused to indulge the details though he knew Portia and Alvira would find out in no time. He pushed his hands deep into the pockets so they wouldn't notice the slight tremble. "I..." Jin cleared his throat. "I have to check on Jimin."

"Can we see her?" Portia asked.

Jin set his lips in a thin line. After a moment of contemplation, he nodded. "You can see her through the glass partition." Hoseok shifted on his feet, eyes wide. "You can go too, but don't stay for more than fifteen minutes." It was against the hospital rules, but Portia and Alvira worked here. And then, Hoseok, the man looked as if he would pass out. He couldn't deny the man his right to see her alive, if in case...Jin forcefully shoved the thought aside.

They rushed past him without a word and Jin let the stray tears fall, praying she made through the night. Katy's condition was far from stable. She was still critical and the first twenty-four hours were extremely important.

He didn't meet Yoongi's gaze as he strode to the intensive care unit. Jimin was transferred their earlier. Jin soon found the doctor who was still inside and engaged with him.
