Jimin could still feel the heat from Jungkook's hand in his lower back. The ghostly sensation had left his skin tingling for reasons he couldn't fathom. The moment he stepped into Jungkook's arms, his spicy cologne and soft lavender body wash had permeated his senses. The scent had invited him with open arms, tempting him to bury his nose with promises of warmth.
Jimin willed his mind to think of something else. He closed his eyes and tried to distract himself by listening to Portia's drunken ramblings about the bastard she dated once. Yep, that one was a piece of art and a straight asshole in all caps. She rarely talked about that one anymore.
"Talk about him one more time and I'll kick you out of this car," Alvie snapped from the front seat, effectively shutting Portia.
Jimin suppressed the chuckle and put a hand on Portia's knee patting it twice. "You promised that you won't think about him again."
Portia huffed. "Right. Can we talk about Jinnie then?" She continued without waiting for other's response, "You know, he's the most beautiful man I've ever laid my eyes upon?" A giggle followed and she covered her face. "He's the best thing that ever happened to me."
"I'm going to record this and send it to your Jinnie." Alvira pulled her phone out.
"Don't you dare." Portia was almost on her and Jimin pulled her back with a chuckle.
"She's just kidding," he said with the same smile on his face.
"Don't you dare, Alvie. I swear I won't survive if that ever happened."
"You should tell him at some point in time," Katy said, eyes on the road.
"Nope," Portia shook her head. "You know, how I can't even meet his eyes for once. It's been like what...two years? Hell, it could be more since we began working in the same department. I still can't bring myself to look him in the eye while he's talking."
"Need help with that?" Jimin asked, head tilted to the side as he gazed fondly at his friend.
"No!" Portia shook her head again. "I'll never tell him."
"Why?" he pushed. It was obvious the woman would move mountains for Jin. But for some reason, she would never open up.
"I have my reasons, okay," she frowned. "I...I don't want to talk about it."
"What if he finds someone else?" Jimin knew Jin was single, but she had to tell him how she felt. How long did she plan to go on like this?
"It'll hurt me," she said immediately. "I've thought about it. As much as it would hurt me, I'll also be happy as long as he's happy."
"You're crazy," Jimin shook his head. "Jin will be lucky to have someone who loves him as you do."
"You don't understand, Jiminie." She sighed. "I...I can't...I can never..."
"Why?" he questioned, turning his upper body to face her.
"Because I'm not perfect."
"Seriously?" Jimin's eyes widened at her comment. "Did you even hear what you just said?"
"She won't listen," Katy piped in. "Whatever you say, it won't work."
"Why?" Jimin couldn't understand. They were beautiful, talented, hardworking, and most of all kind and compassionate. Any man would be fortunate to have one of these women in their life.
"Because men are trash," Alvie said.
"How would you know? You were never in a relationship before," Jimin snapped. This was ridiculous.
