Five minutes into the meeting and Jungkook was already questioning the purpose of very existence. He wanted that damn coffee he missed. But again the coffee had to wait. The old goats were literally old fashioned and scrunched their faces once he made the mistake of bringing a cup of coffee to the board meeting. Jungkook had gritted his teeth and put up with their disapproving glances and snide remarks that went along the lines of non-professional, reckless kid and whatnots.

He couldn't help the sigh that left his mouth. Five years ago, when his father called him out of blue and told him that he'd run his company starting next work week, Jungkook had been lost. He was still nursing his broken heart and looked like shit, his eyes red and face swollen with all the amount of alcohol he had consumed during the initial days of his break up. His father had been pissed because Jungkook was caught for driving under influence just a night before.

Jungkook had a little warning when he was pushed into the business with little knowledge of everything. This was his father's method of punishing. Unlike Taehyung who held a Master's degree in business administration and two years of experience under his belt, Jungkook was like a newborn deer, stumbling on his feet when he became the CEO. A position he didn't want or wasn't ready for. He still wasn't ready.

Jungkook was at least thirty years younger to the board members in the room and even after five years, they tried to assert some sort of control over him. No matter how hard he worked, he will always be that reckless kid in their eyes. It didn't help that he wasn't a key shareholder of the company. The majority of the shares were still with his father. He was a CEO only in name.

He gritted his teeth as he fiddled with his fingers under the table and fought the urge to check on his phone that kept vibrating with emails and messages.

The first sane thing he did once he assumed the position was to hire Taehyung against his father's wishes. Well, when Jungkook gave an ultimatum that it was his way or no way, his father had conceded with a grunt. With the press release that already announced that Jungkook would become the youngest Chief Executive Officer of Jeon Corporation, his father had no choice. But the old man had done him dirty and he soon realized he was nothing more than a puppet to his father.

He was pushed into the very same board room only a week later and they hadn't held back. They pounced at him like hyenas, tearing him down at the first opportunity they got. It didn't sit well with the board members that now they had worked with a young man who was barely out of college. He still remembered the anxiety attack he suffered in his lonely office with no one but Taehyung to hold him as he cried.

But Jungkook turned the game around. When he focused on something, he gave it all. He started throwing himself at work and drowned his sorrow by overexerting his brain. It worked. Within a year, he saw the result. Though that improved his stand with the board members, it certainly did not progress.

They all knew Jungkook had no say when it came to the final decision and he still relied on his father. Jungkook was painfully aware that he was just another employee in his father's company unlike what the outside world thought. He fought the urge to laugh as he remembered, his father could snap a finger and he would be in the streets jobless. Well, not literally. He was no fool. He made sure to pay himself a decent paycheck and save for his future.

Another five minutes had passed and he pretended to listen to the conversation as they discussed the market trends. Where's Jimin? Shouldn't he be here to take minutes of the meeting? He frowned. This was Jimin's first board meeting after he joined. Maybe he didn't know.

Just then a knock quieted them and Jimin strode in with an air of confidence surrounding him. He smiled vibrantly at the members before bowing in greeting. When Jimin looked behind him and gestured someone to enter. One of the cafeteria workers pushed a trolley filled with refreshments settling it beside Jimin.
