Casiell walked into the convenience store and looked for what she needed to buy. She walked up towards the food isle and started looking for tomatoes. She saw some fresh tomatoes in a green basket and bent to pick them up until someone's hand reached towards them. She looked sideways to see who it was and her heart skipped a beat. Red hair, red eyes, tall, and lean; it was her next door neighbor, whom she'd had an embarrassing encounter with a day ago. Just great. Another encounter.

"Oh hey, we meet again," he said, very casually. "H...hey," Casiell replied nervously. She quickly picked up the tomatoes and rushed out of the isle. She walked into another isle as an effort to get away from that boy. "That was close," she sighed, thinking she had lost him. "What was?" Said a voice from behind her. Casiell turned around and saw the boy standing right behind her, grinning. "N...nothing," Casiell stuttered, looking away. "Since we're neighbors, I think we should get to know each other,"he said, "My name is Yael, it's nice to meet you." Casiell sighed knowing there was nothing she could do but reply to him and said, "My name's...Casiell, it's nice to meet you too....Yael." "Casiell.....what a pretty name," Yael said. Casiell blushed a bit since she wasn't used to compliments. "I...um have to go," Casiell told Yael. "Alright, see ya," Yael said, giving her a wave as she walked out of the isle and went to the cashier to check out.

Casiell checked out of the convenience store and headed home. She thought about her neighbor, Yael, on her way back. "He doesn't seem like a bad person," she thought. He was nice, and didn't mention anything about yesterday's embarrassing encounter. Maybe she could trust him. Casiell shook her thoughts away. "What am I even thinking?" She sighed heavily.

She reached her apartment and looked for her keys inside her purse. As she took out her keys, she heard footsteps and saw Yael coming up towards his apartment. He spotted Casiell and gave her a wave. She was reluctant at first, but decided to wave back. She used the keys to unlock the door and went inside and noticed something strange on her curtains. Forgetting to close the door, she stepped forward and squinted at her curtains to make out what it was. Her eyes widened in fear and she stepped back, noticing that there was a silhouette of someone behind her curtains. The silhouette moved a little and casiell screamed. She rushed into her kitchen and grabbed a knife. Her heart was throbbing and she started sweating. Tears streamed down her face because of fear.

There was a sound of footsteps as Yael came running in to the apartment. "Casiell? Are you okay!?" Yael shouted, pushing the door wide open. He looked around and spotted Casiell in the kitchen with a knife in her hand and tears streaming down her face. "Casiell! What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Yael asked as he rushed towards her. "I...I saw someone behind the curtains!" Casiell whimpered, pointing towards the curtains. Yael grabbed the curtains and looked behind them. There was nobody there. "Casiell, there's nobody there," Yael said trying to calm her down. "But I saw someone!" Casiell exclaimed. "Alright, I believe you. But let's calm down first and then we can talk about it," Yael said calmly. She nodded, sat on the sofa and gestured for Yael to sit beside her.

"I think it was a ghost," Yael said bluntly, sitting onto the sofa. Casiell was surprised that Yael believed in ghosts. She hadn't taken him for someone who would be. "I think so too actually...." Casiell said quietly, "I didn't think you believed in that stuff." "I'm a psychic so I kinda have to see them everyday," Yael shrugged. Casiell was even more surprised and a little bit nervous. What if he could sense that she wasn't human? Then he'd find out about her reality and think she was a monster. "So can you sense energies and stuff?" Casiell questioned Yael nervously. "Yeah, I can feel the energy of a place and tell if there's a good or bad spirit hanging around," He explained. "So can you see anything here?" She asked. "Right now it seems as if the ghost has left, and it might be hard to find it so it might take a while to investigate," Yael said. "oh...well....um.....you can come here to investigate," Casiell offered shyly. "Oh, alright then, but it might take several days. Or months," he exaggerated. Casiell blinked, unsure, then finally said, "Alright, that's fine by me." "Then I guess it's settled. I have to go now though, I'll come back tomorrow," Yael said, getting up. Casiell nodded and walked him outside. "Thanks....um....for that," she said, a little embarrassed. "No problem, I guess we're friends now?" Yael asked her. Casiell nodded quietly. Yael gave Casiell a warm smile before heading into his apartment.

Casiell pressed herself against the wall and breathed deeply. "I...I just made friends with my neighbor...right? I just made a friend!" Casiell thought in surprise. It was the first time in years since she had made a real friend. It had been a long time since she had last talked casually with someone, and now she felt happy. She believed that Yael was a nice guy and decided to trust him even though she had bad experiences with people before. She had friends before in her middle school but they all left her after they found out about her curse. Everyone called her names such as 'monster' or 'cursed girl'. Her self confidence was shattered after that and she stopped going to school. Then, her parents died which made things even worse and Casiell totally shut herself off from the rest of the world. She had not had any normal conversation with anyone up until now.

There was something about Yael that was different. He didn't think she was weird, in fact, he even talked to her. Casiell smiled and went into her apartment, this time knowing she won't be alone anymore.
