"Mia has managed to get a dog sitter for tonight." Mandy announced.
His words didn't register since I was still dazed from my experience with Avinash couple of hours back. The Innova sped down the mountain road, and I couldn't help looking at the rear view mirror which gave me a clear view of Avinash, who was sitting on the passenger seat, appreciating the scenery outside. Mandy, Natasha and I occupied the middle seat, while Brute was sprawled on the rear seat.
"Danny and Oly have reached yet?" Avi's voice fueled the desire that was burning inside me.
"I don't think so," Mandy replied, "We would probably reach before them."
It was already late evening by the time we reached the capital city of Uttarkhand. Dehradun looked like a pretty bride on her wedding day, with fairy lights adorning its roads. All the lounges and eateries buzzed with merriment and laughter.
The traffic was heavier since the inhabitants of the small city flocked to the handful of pubs or malls. Dehradun had limited options, when it came to nightlife. The people here preferred to slumber in their warm homes, instead of dancing at nightclubs.
However since it was the day before the New Year's Eve, the scene in the hill city was a little different. Everyone wanted to forget the struggles and trials of the present year, as they celebrated in the hope that the coming year would be better than the current one.
Avinash was directing the chauffeur to take the lanes highlighted in the route that Mia had sent him. We were to lodge at Fatima's place during our short trip here. Inspite of our protests, Mia adamantly insisted that we stay at Fatima's apartment, assuring us that it wouldn't be a hassle for them.
"I think this is it." Avinash sounded a little unsure when we pulled up infront of a four storeyed apartment building with red painted exteriors. The lane on which the apartment building was situated, was dimly lighted with blinking street lamps.
"Hey, up hear." We heard Mia shout from somewhere close-by. Peering out of the car window, I saw her standing at the third floor balcony of the red apartment building, waving at us vigorously.
"Yes this is it," I told Avinash, disembarking from the car.
Fatima's flat which was, unknown to her, set up by R&AW, had two bedrooms, two washrooms, a drawing and dining area and a small kitchen. It was fully furnished, with a queen bed in each room, a steel cupboard, a cane sofa set, a small glass dining table with four dining chairs and a semi-modular kitchen.
"Girls in this room," Mia pointed to the room with the steel cupboard, once we had entered her quaint flat, "and boys in that one."
"We have to sleep separately." Mandy said looking aghast.
"Yes." Mia said smugly.
"No way," Mandy retorted in utter disbelief, "I am not letting go of my Nuts."
"I would suggest you settle down in the designated boys' room," Natasha said with a raised brow, "unless the idea of sleeping alone on the sofa sounds appealing."
Mandy huffed in frustration before stomping to his designated room.
Danish and Olivia arrived not much later. Just like Mia they too were surprised to find Avinash without Damini. We filled them up with the events of the past couple of days.
"Natasha you surely are a Rockstar man." Olivia was awed by Natasha's improvisation of throwing coffee on Damini
"You should have seen her face man." Mandy guffawed. "Oww Maai Gawwd, what haiive yeeoo dooone." His imitation of Damini was perfect.
