Naina POV

I finished my shopping trip just now and walked into my flat. Kristie came along with me to do my wedding shopping. I planned this Christian wedding to honor my mom and her family because though I lost most of her side of family, I would like to dedicate my Christian wedding to them. When I was a child my mom gave enough freedom to my dad to raise me with all the values and culture which they follow in India so I know most of it. Mom was a sweet heart like that, she allowed me the freedom to chose, she wanted me to decide what I wanted to do and where I belong in concern to religion and values. So I picked up parts of each culture, I went to church with my mom though I hated waking up early, I went with my dad to his temple visits whenever there is a festival. I chose Indian clothes to wear at home sometimes to make my dad happy. I decorated Christmas tree with my mom, I had vegetarian Indian food with my dad while I shared my mom's yummy American vegetarian lasagne with her.

I was raised with two cultures and I was given freedom to chose but I never chose anything. I was happy to be the mixed one. While I have a Christian wedding planned to honor my mom's family and it was also a way to feel her presence beside me, I have also planned something else to honor my dad's culture too. That was a surprise to Agastya and his family. I know when we broke the news of our wedding she got really excited about shopping for Indian wedding sarees or gowns but Agastya told her that I wanted to have a christian wedding. She was a bit sad because ofcourse a mother has hopes and dreams about her only son's wedding but she seemed happy for us.

When Agastya went to take a call I apolozised to her and told her that how I always dreamed of a christian wedding not just to honor my mom but also because I loved to wear a white gown. She dint seem to mind and she told me not to apolozise.

I was shopping with Kristie when I saw an Indian women wearing a western dress with her mangalsutra and sindhoor with mehandi on her hands. She looked gorgeous and her husband was looking at her with lots of love. Then it strikes me what to do.

I made arrangements for tomorrow , smiling to myself for brilliant idea. Kristie helped me smooth things up. Agastya was taking care of the decorations in the church etc.

Next day morning

I woke up with a smile on my face Kristie pampered me by massaging my hair with some oil so that I could wash my hair. Its a tradition at my home we oil our hair before washing it with shampoo, it keeps our scalp moisturized and our hair looks healthy. After my shower Kristie wiped my hair dry and it was time to put on my wedding dress.
