"Hey, short stack, you got my homework?" John asks as I approach him.

"No, tall ass, I decided that of all the days I've been doing your homework, that today was the day I wasn't going to." I say sarcastically before holding out his binder to him.

He chuckles gently. "You always have the best jokes, Alex." He says, returning the sarcasm. I hold out my hand for money after he takes the binder, but he just sits on the bench. "Wait, sit down, Alex." He says.

I groan, earning another chuckle from him. "Come on, don't be like that. You can spare a couple minutes to have a conversation with me."

I give him a skeptical look but decide to sit down when I realize he won't pay me until I do. I look over at him, raising an eyebrow.

"So, Alex. What college are you planning on going to?" He asks.

"Um... Princeton Law School." I say.

"The one in Jersey?" He asks.

"No, the one in Kansas. Yes the one in Jersey." I say, scoffing slightly. "Why do you care?"

"Well, I figured a smarty pants like you would wanna go to Harvard or something."

"Princeton is a way better school for me than Harvard, but I will also be applying there just in case." I say.

He nods. "Well, that'll be interesting, because my dad is planning on sending me to Princeton." He says and my expression just drops.

"You've got to be kidding me." I say and he shakes his head. I let out a scoff/chuckle and shake my head in disbelief. "The rich kid who can't even do his own homework is going to apply to the same school as me, and will probably get in before me because he's got a large amount of money."

He frowns and looks down at the ground. "Right, probably..." He sighs before handing me my money. I fake smile at him before waving and standing up, walking away. As I walk, I count my money and see he paid me $40 extra.

I raise an eyebrow and turn around to ask him about it, but see he's already started talking to a little girl. She was giggling at him and he ruffled her hair. She looked like a mini, girl version of John, so I just figured it was his little sister or something. I smile slightly before turning and leaving.

Timeskip brought to you by my government class :)

I walk past the Schuyler/Laurens group, trying to get past them without noticing, but this time was no different than the other times. They started following me and Angelica leaned her elbow on my shoulder. "How's our favorite bastard doing today?" She asks, tauntingly.

I ignore them and continue walking, them staying close to me. Peggy frowns at this. "Hey, dumbass, she was talking to you." She says to me. When I don't respond once again, she sticks her foot out in front of me unexpectedly and I fall to the floor, flat on my face.

I hear the three girls giggle and as I sit up, I see them running away down the halls. I scoff and then see a hand reaching out to me. I raise an eyebrow up at the freckled teenager and he mocks my expression. "What? You gonna take my help or not?" He asks.

I roll my eyes and stand up without his help, walking right past him. I hear him sigh but I ignore it as I walk to the cafeteria. I don't know why he would want to help me, especially since it was his friends who hurt me in the first place. I walk into the large lunch room and sit down at our usual table, pulling out my binder and John's binder, which he left in my locker after taking his homework out and turning it in.

Laf and Herc sit across from me and look at me skeptically. "What? No new bruises, have you not run into the Schuylers or Laurens today?" Laf asks, almost sarcastically. He hated how they treated me, but I never let him fight my battles for me.

I shrug. "I did. They tripped me, but I guess that was enough for them today."

They both give me a skeptical look before Hercules shakes his head at me. "I can't believe you're still doing that asshole's homework. Let him fail, he deserves it." He mumbles before shoving food in his mouth.

"Yeah, no kidding. And now apparently we're planning on going to the same college." I scoff, doing his homework still.

Lafayette raises an eyebrow before rolling his eyes. "Of course the dumb rich kid wants to go to Princeton. As if he doesn't shove his privilege around enough." He says, his French accent thicker than normal since he was irritated.

I laugh slightly and nod. "Yeah, no kidding." I look over at their table to see the Schuylers laughing at something John had just said. John looks over at me and smiles slightly. I just roll my eyes and then back to the two in front of me.

"You know, John's been acting super nice recently. Yesterday, he wouldn't give me my money unless I had a conversation with him. And then he paid me double what he usually pays me." I say.

They both look up at me with a confused look and I subtly point at John, who was still smiling at me. They glance over a little less subtly and I roll my eyes once again. I see John blush and then back to his group, and Laf and Herc turn back to me.

"That's... Interesting." Hercules says. "He was smiling at you. Not his usual jackass smirk, a genuine smile."

"Yeah, I know. I don't know what he's trying to do, but it's throwing me off a bit. Today, he tried helping me stand up after the Schuylers ran off."

Lafayette looks over at John again. "Maybe...He's tired of being a bully?" He asks.

We all look at each other before laughing and shaking our heads. "Yeah, you're right, that's not likely. He's probably just a bit giddy from whatever girl he slept with last night." Laf jokes and we all laugh once again.

I then shake my head as I get back to doing mine and John's homework. Thank goodness for these two.
