"Hey look who it is!"

I groan quietly as I try and walk past the treacherous group. Senior year and these jerks still won't leave me alone. They honestly need to grow up.

The tallest girl grabs my bag, stopping me from walking, and drags me back. She slams me against the locker, in the middle of their group.

I look at the 4 kids surrounding me. John Laurens and the Schuyler sisters. I don't even know what I did to make them all hate me so much, but alas, here we are.

I roll my eyes. "Don't you guys have anything better to do?" I ask, more annoyed than anything. They did the same thing everyday, and I'm not sure if anyone actually found them "scary."

The smallest in yellow shrugs. "What, you don't enjoy our little visits?" She asks.

I fake a smile at her. "Oh, you know what, you got me. Our visits are my favorite thing in the whole wide world, Margarita." She furrows her eyebrows and punches me in the gut. I fold my arms over my stomach and lean over a little, wincing in pain. She was the definition of tiny but mighty.

"It's Peggy to you." She says angrily.

I roll my eyes and look at up at them, trying my best not to look like I was in pain. "Whatever, are you guys quite done?" I ask.

"Aw, you're so cute." Eliza says in a not so nice way.

And that's how my morning started, everyday. Those four have been tormenting me since freshman year. Why? I don't have the slightest idea.

I walk to first period, holding my stomach in pain. I was sure I had a black eye, but at this point nobody even questioned it anymore.

The classes drag along and lunch time rolls around. I sit down and I hear Hercules and Gilbert sit down across from me.

"Ouch, that looks like it hurt." Hercules mumbles, obviously looking at my face.

I shrug. "Doesn't bother me." I say, pulling out both mine and John's homework.

I start working on the papers in front of me and Lafayette groans. "Alex, why do you let them push you around? They beat you up daily and then you still turn around and do John's homework?"

I look up at him, frowning. "You know I need the money. It doesn't matter anyway. Three more quarters and I never have to see them again."

The two frown at me but let it go, since they know how stubborn I am.

School soon passes by and I begin walking home. Once I'm out of sight of the school, I turn right and head to the park by my house. I see the familiar set of curls on a park bench and I grab his binder, dropping it next to him. He jumps lightly and looks back at me, smiling.

"Aw, you've got a little booboo right there." He teases, pointing at my eye.

I roll my eyes. "Gee, I wonder how that got there." I say sarcastically.

"Hey, that was your fault for calling Peggy by her birth name." He chuckles gently, looking down at his binder. "Don't worry though, it looks cute on you."

I scoff. "Right, okay." I hold out my hand for the money, but he high fives me instead. "Wow, Laurens. You seem to get more creative everytime you high five me."

"Wow, someone's in a grouchy mood today." He says, smiling up at me. I raise an eyebrow at him and he sighs. "Fine, here you go!" He hands me my money and I fake a smile at him.

"Thanks so much. Goodbye." I turn sharply and try walking away but he stands up and grabs my hand.

He turns me around and he smiles at me. "Wait, Hamilton." He says. "Thank you."

I raise an eyebrow at him. "I don't know what's gotten into you, but I need to leave now."

He hesitates before nodding. "Right, um..Yeah, get out of here, and don't tell anyone about-"

"Yes, I know. Jesus, you don't need to remind me every single day." I roll my eyes and walk away.

I then get home to my foster parent's house and sigh as I walk in. "I'm home!" I call out, though I knew they didn't actually care.

I walk through the house and I see Theodosia sitting on the counter, texting on her phone. She was another foster kid in this home, same age as me, but she goes to a different school than me. I nod at her. "'Sup, Theo." I say, opening the fridge and grabbing the ice pack I grabbed everyday.

She looks over at me and sighs. "Lex, sometimes I wish I went to your school so I could beat up whoever was beating you up." She sets her phone down and crosses her arms at me, giving me a scolding look.

"Yeah, sucks for me I guess." I say, holding the ice pack on my eye. "You know it's more than one person, though. I don't think you could take them." I tease her.

She holds out her arm to show off her muscles and smiles goofily. "I definitely could! They wouldn't stand a chance against me!"

I chuckle gently and shake my head. "Whatever you say, Theo."

"I'm serious, though. Why don't you fight back?" She asks.

I shake my head. "Not worth my time. Anyway, I'm just going to go do my homework. See ya later." She sighs and waves as I head up the stairs.

And that was pretty much my daily routine. Go to school, get beat up, get scolded by Laf and Herc, go home, get scolded by Theo, do homework. Occasionally I worked after school, but they've been scheduling me a lot less recently, so I had more time to work on mine and John's homework.

The door to my room swung open and my foster mom glares at me. "What, you didn't bother saying hi to me?" She asks, annoyed.

I shrug. "I didn't see you on my way up to my room." I state bluntly. She scoffs.

"Jesus..I take you and Theodosia in. Take you in, take care of you, feed you, clothe you. And this, this is the thanks I get for it?" She asks, making it way more dramatic than it had to be.

I sigh. "Sorry, Grace. I'll keep that in mind next time I walk in the house." I say, though I could really care less.

She rolls her eyes. "You better, otherwise you're not getting dinner tomorrow." She says before walking out, not bothering to return my door to its previously closed state. I groan as I stand up and close it behind her, going back to my bed and sitting on my laptop, finishing off my homework.
