"Alex, just relax. It's been two months since he even made that threat, nothing is going to happen."

I shake my head and continue my scroll through all of his social media. I did this daily, wanting to make sure Jefferson didn't tell anyone.

"That's just what he wants us to think." I say.

"Alex, today is Valentine's day. Your date is going to be here any minute, and then we're going to go on our double date. You need to stop worrying about an empty threat and worry about finishing getting ready." Lafayette scolds.

I look up at the other two immigrants sitting on the couch and sigh. "Maybe we should just postpone it. You never know if someone is going to be there, and then Jefferson would finally have something to release-"

"We are not postponing this double date again, you promised we could go on Valentine's Day." Hercules interrupts. "Why are you two still keeping your relationship a secret, anyway? Don't you think it's time people knew about you two?"

I shake my head. "John wants to keep it a secret still. He wants to come out to his dad first, but he hasn't found a way to." I explain. "I just want him to be happy, so I don't want any of it getting out until he's ready."

They nod slowly. "I see... Well, I think you should stop worrying about what Jefferson is going to do. If he was going to tell everyone, he wouldn't have dragged it on for two months, he's too impatient." Laf says.

"I... I know.. I'm just..." I sigh softly. "You're right. You're absolutely right. I need to stop stressing, and start getting ready. Do you guys think this outfit is okay?"

Hercules smiles and says, "Yeah, I think you look fine. Come here and let me fix your hair, though."

I walk over and sit in front of him before he starts braiding my hair. I raise an eyebrow. "Braids?" I ask.

"Yeah, braids. Your hair is a mess." He says stubbornly. I shrug and just go with it, knowing there was no point in arguing.

"So, this is going to be weird, isn't it." Laf asks. "I mean, we've met John before, obviously, but this is the first time we'll be like, hanging out with him. It'll be like we're parents meeting Alex's boyfriend."

I roll my eyes. "Well, don't make it weird. Please." I respond.

"I make no promises."

About ten minutes later, the doorbell finally rang. I sprang up to answer the door, opening it to see John standing behind it. I smile immediately and wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him into a hug.

He chuckles and wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me a little closer. "Hi, love."

"Hi." I reply simply. I pull away and look at him, and then back at the other two. "Alright, are we ready to go?"

The two on the couch nod and they stand up, Herc grabbing his keys. John holds my hand and we all pile into Herc's car, John and I in the back, and Laf and Herc in the front. Hercules then drives us to a diner about four miles away, and we are seated pretty quickly, since we had a reservation.

"So, John," Herc says, raising an eyebrow at him. "What's going on with you?"

John gives me a look and then smiles at Hercules, still clearly confused, and asks, "What do you mean?"

"Oh, you know. College plans. True intentions. Family."

I subtly give Herc a stern look before looking down at my menu and I feel John place his hand on my knee. Without looking up from my menu, I place my hand on top of his, squeezing it gently.

"Well, as you guys probably already know, I'm planning on attending Princeton College. Um, I'm not sure what you mean about my true intentions, and family is doing..Well."

I sigh softly and look up to see Laf shaking his head. "We want to know what you want with Alex. You know, make sure you're really a good guy for him."

"Laf!"

"No, no, it's okay. Um, I know I haven't exactly been the best person to you guys, or to Alex, but I know I can be better than that. My only intention is to make Alex happy, and show him love." John explains nervously, still holding my hand.

I raise an eyebrow at the two in front of me. "Now will you two stop interrogating him? Goodness." I shake my head and then the waitress comes over and takes our orders.

The date went pretty well after that, Laf and Herc subtly trying to interrogate John and me calling them out on it every time. He was a good guy, he didn't need to be interrogated about his intentions and such.

Herc drives us to John's house and I give him a quick kiss before he exits the car. He waves at me and I wave back, smiling brightly as we drive away.

"See? Nothing bad happened, Alex." Laf says, turning to look at me.

I roll my eyes. "Yeah, yeah, you guys were right." I say, chuckling gently.

They smile and tease me, but I get distracted by my phone buzzing a few times. I raise an eyebrow and look at the Instagram messages I had just received from someone named "Mac-n-cheesy."

I raise an eyebrow and open the messages to see photos of John and I at dinner tonight, and then a couple more of us at different moments. My face drops and they then type out, "I told you it was only a matter of time before your secret was leaked. This is payback, bitch."

I look up at my two friends in the car and shake my head. "You guys were wrong." I say suddenly.

Laf turns around and I show him the pictures. "Mac-n-cheesy?" He asks. I click on the profile to show Thomas Jefferson. He nods and "oh"s at the profile. "Well, that's not good.." He mumbles.

"Yeah, no shit, Sherlock." I pull my phone back and text him back. "Please, whatever you do, don't post those. It's not any of your business what happens between John and I."

"Little late for apologies, buddy. Shoulda thought about that before you ruined my final debate competition."

I groan dramatically. "Guys, he's going to release the photos. I don't know when, but I know he's going to."
