Memories: Crushing Blow

(Just a quick note, the expedition isn't going to go exactly as it did in the anime/manga.)

Levi's POV

It was about time for the 54th expedition. We are supposed to take Eren to the basement of his fathers hidden shack where he explained we would find out more about the titans. It was a dangerous mission however it could help everyone out immensely.

Sora and I, along with my squad were lead into a gigantic forest, while being chased by a deadly female titan who wiped out almost half of the soldiers already. Hanji secured the female titan for a short while, but she somehow summoned Titans on her own will and they ate her alive. Then, Sora and I were sent to meet up with my squad.

It might have taken a while to get there, but we heard sudden roars and an explosion was also heard. An orange lightning bolt crashed down from the sky, and based on previous occasions, it had to be the female Titan.

"Oh no..." Sora whispers to herself. "Our squad is ahead where the lightning struck... They might be in trouble!"

"Don't worry. They'll be fine. It could have just been Eren."

"But how? He hasn't been able to transform unless something wrong occurred! Something is-"

I noticed she stopped talking. She stares dead ahead at something. I quietly get next to her and look ahead while still swinging through the trees.

Someone, is hanging upside down while still attached to their 3DMG. There is something wrong... It is Gunter. The back of his neck was sliced like a titans. Who ever this was... is one of us...

I noticed Sora didn't stop. She kept moving forward. And then, we arrived at the bodies of Erd, Oulo, and Sora's closest friend, Petra... She stopped once we got to Petra. Her head was hanging back from a tree with blood splattered all over the tree and the side of her face. I, myself was devastated.

Sora and Petra were very close. They would always giggle and laugh together and sometimes fight but... She was a person who wouldn't leave Sora. They were most likely like sisters to one another...

I gaze at Sora who is still hanging there. She suddenly presses on, without saying a word....

After the mission, Eren was successfully removed from the female Titans mouth. We were forced to drop the bodies. Petra's along with it... I decided to retrieve her Wings of Freedom patch and give it to Sora. She still hasn't said a word since the forest ... I'm getting worried...

Present Day

It might have been so long ago, but Sora frequently visited Petra's grave.

I sigh as I sit at my desk. I remained there most of the day. Jordan stayed with Sora for the past few days. I barely see him anymore because of it but I don't blame him.

I spot Eren who looks like he wants to ask a question but he stands there like a complete idiot. He really shouldn't be so afraid of me... It has been 16 years. He is a grown man.

"Oi! Jaeger if you have something to say, say it!"

He flinched and speaks. "Um... It's just... Jordan has been missing out on training recently." I glare at him. "But! I... Just have a question. Do you think he will make a good member of the Scouts?"

I sigh and can tell he already knows what I'm going to say.

"Yeah.. I think he's going to do just fine although Sora and I worry. But that's natural I guess..."

"I think he will make a great addition to the Scouts. Though, I feel bad for him because he is so depressed over Sora..."

"I'm sure it is difficult for him. If something were to happen to Sora, I wouldn't want him to do anything he would regret."

"Why not have a conversation with him? I'm sure he needs to smile right now."

I glare at him. "And what would u say to him? I can't even reassure myself right now. I don't know if things will be alright..."

"Just try Heichou."

"... But I don't know... I'm not a good enough father..."

Eren all of a sudden gets into my face and slams his hands down on the desk. "You are a wonderful father Heichou!! You have raised him along with Sora to be the person he is today!"

I am stunned and a bit ashamed... I should do what Eren said but...

Our conversation is interrupted by a small knock on the door. I stand to answer it and I spot Jordan's tired eyes. He looks like he hasn't slept in days... "Father..." He quietly says.

I quietly sigh and pull Jordan in for a hug. It's been a while... But I can sense his sadness and anguish...

He begins to cry while hugging be back. I don't like to see him cry. It kills me inside that he suffers so much.

I attempt to calm him down while still hugging him. "Shh... Now your mother wouldn't want to see you crying like that..."

"I just... Don't want Ma to suffer anymore..."

I sigh. "I don't either.. But what ever happens... Promise me you will stay by my side and I will do the same. I won't ever leave you alone."

Jordan looks into my eyes and nods. "I love you father..."

I smile and ruffle his hair. "I love you too, kid."

Neither of us knew, what was waiting for us just a few days later, which changed my life forever....
