Final Words

Eren's POV

Having been almost 12 hours later, Sora has remained in the same position since she got to the infirmary.

Lukas had to be executed in a few minutes. I was told to gather all of the Scouts and have them stand in the execution hall. Then, I had to get Sora...

I quietly walk up to the infirmary and knock on the door Sora and Levi was in. There was no answer so I slowly open the door. Sora must be sleeping. Her head is resting on the bed sheets next to Levi as she sat in the chair. When I get closer, I notice that she is still holding Levi's hand and she looked sleep deprived.

I lightly touch her shoulder and her eyes slowly open. "Um... I was sent to get you. Lukas is being executed today and..." I can't say anything more. If I did I would probably break down.

Sora slowly stands without saying a word and follows me out of the room. Her eyes are red and swollen like she has been crying and she looks terribly tired.

Once we get to the hall, everyone looks at Sora with a concerned gaze. Lukas stands on the large stage with a rope around his neck. He looks afraid but he is calm. Sora stands next to Hanji and I. Sora looks up at Lukas. To my surprise, she smiles. It's like a silent goodbye, just a like she did to Jordan before he was buried....

After a few more minutes, Hanji steps up and announces what Lukas was charged for.

"Lukas Smith, has been charged with the murder of Jordan Ackerman, the kidnapping and torture of your mother, Sora Ackerman. Do you accept these charges?"

Lukas hesitates and he nods. He starts to cry which I see Sora flinch at. I gaze and look over at her and tears fall down her cheek but it doesn't seem like she notices.

"Any last words?" Hanji says.

"Um... Yes... I just wanted to say to Sora, well, my mother that, I'm sorry for everything I have done. I had no idea about anything and my father and I made your life miserable. I wish I found out earlier... So I wouldn't have taken your son away from you... So that my father wouldn't have done what he did to your husband... So we wouldn't have almost killed you... I don't know if I should even be saying this because I have only known you for a day, but I love you mother."

Then, after he said his final words, the board holding him on the ground, falls, and Lukas... Was no more...

After what happened, I couldn't find Sora anywhere. She disappeared from next to me and Hanji. As I begin to find her, Hanji grabs my arm. "I'm sure she wants to be alone Eren. Also, I'm going to have to tell her something but I'm too busy at the moment. Would you mind telling her?"

"Is it more bad news? I can't tell her something that would make her even more depressed..."

"Well... It depends on how you look at it. Come with me."

I follow Hanji into a familiar room. Levi and Sora's room. There is no one in it at the moment. It is very clean... Something Levi would stress. And also, there are a few pictures siting on a desk in the very corner.

I walk over to them and look at them. "These pictures..." I murmur as I look through them all. A picture of Sora when she was pregnant. A picture of Levi when he was cleaning the house. A picture of Sora with Jordan when he was 5. And a picture of Levi and Jordan, laying on a couch, and Levi kissed Jordan's forehead, with Jordan laughing.

All of these pictures... All of these memories... All of the happiness, Sora can't have anymore....
