The very next day, Sans goes at Grillby's. But now, instead of thinking about how he is wasting his time doing nothing, he's thinking how many times will he walk into this restaurant.

Sans wonders if moving away is really a good idea.

"What's with the long face?" Grillby asked, as he sat himself on the stool next to Sans.

"mmm, nothin'." He said, twisting his ketchup bottle between his fingers. If Grillby sensed he was lying, he didn't say anything about it.

"how's your 'new location' search going?"

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about."

Sans took a better look at the fire monster. "really?"

"Yeah." He sighed. "And it will probably sound crazy but... Would you want to move in with me?"

He said the last part quiclky, in one long breath, amd looked down immediately. Sans almost choked on air.

"move in... are you serious?" He looked around as if he tried to catch a hidden camera. "where? i told you i'm moving..."

"I know what you told me." Grillby looked back at Sans, a serious exression on his face. He pushed his glasses up with one finger.

"The only location I was able to find, at a reasonable price and big enough space, is actually in that same city. With all the costs of the new restaurant, I'm not sure I'd be able to rent an apartment by myself."

Grillby took in a deep breath of air. "I get it if you don't want to. I mean, we've been together for barely a month and..."

Sans put his hand on the bar, over Grillby's, which made him stop talking.

" 'course i want to live with you. to put it like papyrus would, it would be a never ending pijama party."

Grillby's smile returned, and his scared expression disappeared like it was never actually there.

"and hey, since i'm going to be only an intern for the first 6 months, i'll help you out with the restaurant."

"You don't need to," Grillby said, a little flustered.

"no, i don't need to, but i want to." Sans pretended to think deeply for a second before adding. "but that's what i'm saying now. then i'll probably just walk around and flirt with you while people work around us."

Grillby blushed. "Please don't."

"why? it's not my fault you're burning hot."

Grillby blushed even harder, if that was possible.

"well, maybe not when we were in the rain, that day. then you were sizzling hot."

"You never got back your shoe." He pondered.

"eh, i have plenty. besides, i walk around in my slippers anyway."

Grillby didn't respond for some time. Sans waved a hand in front of him. "you still there?"

"Huh? Yeah, I was just recalling all the times you tripped in those damn slippers. There are a lot, so it takes me some time."

"heh. well that means i'm just falling for you more and more."

Grillby hid his face in his palms and warned Sans he was going back to work if he didn't stop flirting like that.

"oww, what a bummer. and i was over here thinking we could exchange some french fries for a french kiss."

Sans had that shit eating grinn plastered on his face, while Grillby did everything in his power to hide his embarassment.

"One kiss and I'm off to work."

Sans nodded and they kissed. At first they held back, but their feelings for eachother pushed the kiss to become a little more passionate.

"i swear to god, i want this shirt off of you." Sans panted when they finally parted, tugging at Grillby's shirt, of which he already unbottened the first button.

"Honey, I'm at work."

"and i..., am melting for your love."

Grillby got up, and fired another kiss in Sans's direction from afar.

Sans smiled and pretended to catch it,before turning back to his ketchup bottle and fries.

He was lost in thought when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, fag!"
The old looking guy who sat two stools away got closer and was now sitting right next to him. "What kind of street whore are you?" He continued talking. "Do you think it's fine to shove your sins in everyone's face, here?"

Sans opened his mouth to protest but he didn't have time.

"You're just an ugly fucking monster that came from that filthy undergorund like a stupid mole."
This last line got people to stare. Sans looked around to see the worried looks. Even the employees looked bewildered, stuck in their tracks, not knowing what to do.

"Go back where you came from, man whore! You're doing no good here, stupid ugly piece of shit! No wonder you're kissing the bartender, he probably fucks every customer that comes around here."

Sans hit the bar with his fist in an attempt to silence the man and have a chance to talk. But that didn't help.
"You wouldn't think you were that special, now, did you? No one would want to dedicate their life to an abomination like you!"

Sans felt the tears that threatened to come out of the corners of his eyes. He opened his mouth ready to say something as hurtful as that in return, but he found himself at a loss of words.

Something in his mind told him everything that man said was true. Something in him believed he was just undeserving of attention, let alone love.

He tried so desperately to quiet his own thoughts he didn't even hear what else that guy said. The entire restaurant around him felt like a blurr.

"Sir, I will have to ask you to leave." One of the employees stood between Sans and the guy. Sans didn't hear what else they said, but soon another girl got involved and they escorted the man out.

He then felt a hand on his shoulder and the world around him materialised once more. He recognised Ash, the employee, who was asking him over and over if he was ok, Emily, his colleague, right behind him. Sans nodded without even thinking and was gettin ready to leave, when he saw Grillby hurrying in their direction.

"What happened?" He asked without really aiming the question at any of the three people there.

"This dude started an entire homophobic rant here. A lot of people stared." Ash explained, not letting go of Sans' shoulder.

"Those two tables straight up left." Emily mumbled, making a hand gesture towards two tables closest to the bar.

Grillby nodded worriedly. Then, as if he just remembered Sans was there, he hugged him thight, lifting him off of his seat and then putting him up. Sans gave him the faintest smile Grillby ever saw.

It was a big grin, yes, but it lacked any happy feeling. Grillby grew concerned.

"What did that guy tell you? I'm gonna rip him to pieces!" Grillby said, so angry his flames grew in size. The two humans backed away a little.

"nothin'." Sans barely even whispered the word. He cleared his throat and tried talking again. "he didn't say anything important. just some..." His voice cracked a little and he felt a knot build up in his throat. "some dumb things."

Grillby nodded, but you could see in his eyes he didn't believe anything of what the other just said.

"Let's try again." He said, not trying to sound as angry as before. "What did he say, that made you so upset?"

Sans locked eyes with Grillby and felt the sadness hover over him again.

"am i really a burden?"
