chapter twelve

The past few weeks have been hectic. Kylo was sent out on business, leaving me here to plan out our wedding and test drive being empress. While he was away, I had to step up and take over his duties. "Octavia? Hello? Is anyone even in there? Which veil do you like better?" Nyx questioned holding up two veils that looked the exact same. I was lost in my own thoughts again.

It had been days since I last had contact with Kylo. I started to get worried because the wedding was fast approaching. Sighing I look at Nyx coming back into the real world "I guess I will go with this one." The one I had chosen was a long piece of sheer white fabric with black embroidered butterflies along the back. "He'll come home soon Octavia. You have to have hope." She said rubbing my back to comfort me.

This whole that I haven't heard from him everything has felt cold and empty. Maybe it was just me missing him. Please be okay Kylo. Come home to me. Before Kylo had left he had brought someone onto the base to train me in the ways of the force while he was away. The training was going great but it wasnt the same. Kylo had also taken the Knight of Ren with him so my world felt even more empty without them.

The days started meshing together slowly with the same routines. Wake up, eat breakfast, train with Leo, meetings with Hux, wedding planning, back the quarters. "Sweetie are you sure you're okay? You look very pale." My mother asked looking very concerned. I couldn't answer her. I truly didnt know if I was okay, something felt wrong. My gut was telling me things weren't right. "If you guys will excuse me, I going back to my quarters for the evening. We can pick back up tomorrow at the same time."

As I'm walking down the hall anyone that I pass stops to bow towards me, it made me feel so powerful but I couldn't enjoy this without Kylo by my side. Right as I'm about to open my door Hux passes by with a depressing look spread across his face. This can't be good. "Empress. (he bows) You are needed, there is important information. If you will come with me." Yeah, this definitely cannot be good. Taking a deep breath, I reluctantly start to follow Hux.

In the conference room I was met by every important person of the First Order. Everyone there shared the same concerned look. "Thank you all for being here."'Hux started. "We all know that Supreme Leader Ren has been away on official First Order business. It has been almost a full week since he has contacted anyone. Thankfully our soon to be empress has really stepped up. As for the news that we have received, I am afraid that it is bad. We had sent out troops to look at his last known location. We had found his ship abandoned and there was no sign of him or his knights. Our troops are still searching. As for now Empress Ren will continue to rule. That is all." Hux said dismissing everyone.

"Octavia, I am so sorry about Supreme Leader. As much as I hate the guy, I do miss him and his moodiness. We will find him." "What if he doesnt return before the wedding? What will happen to me?" I was truly worried about what would happen to me if Kylo weren't to return. "Let's not think like that. But if it does come to that you will be crowned Supreme Leader. It is what Kylo had put in a file if something were to happen to him." "If we dont hear from him by morning, I will be going to look for him. I dont care what you have to say I have to find him." Hux didn't put up a fight with me he just nodded his head as I walked away.

Back in the quarters I showered like any other night. I was sitting on the bed applying lotion to my legs when I heard it. It was Kylos voice, it sounded so quiet and broken. It was calling out my name begging for help. The sound of his broken voice was heart breaking. Then another familiar voice. It was the one that I had heard in my dreams. "Go to him Octavia. Save him. He needs to finish what I started. He needs to fix what I broke, bring balance." This male voice sounded as if I was in the same room as me I turned around and was met by a blue glowing man. "Who are you?" I questioned, my hand reaching for my sabers. "No need for those, I am Anakin, or as you may know me Darth Vader. I am Ben... Well Kylo's grandfather." he explained. "Who is Ben? Are you the one telling me I need to help Kylo finish what you started? What does it all mean?" I had so many questions. "Ben is who Kylo was before. There is no time to explain. You must bring him back; he is the one who will bring balance to the force. The key is you. You bring the light side back into his life, you were the missing piece all along. Bring him home, there will be no balance without him. You two will finish what I was supposed to finish. Kylo thinks that I was meant to take over the galaxy and turn everything dark. GO. He needs you." "Ani, who are you talking to now?" A sweet voice questioned. Then another glowing human figure appeared next to Anakin, this one was a beautiful woman. "This is the girl that will help Ben bring balance to the force." She smiled at me kindly and she urged me to go. Before the blue figures disappeared, Anakin turned to me and spoke these words: "May the force be with you Octavia." The figures then vanished.

I shook my head and got dressed. After grabbing my sabers, I took off running towards Huxs office. Hux I need to leave now. "Get me on the next ship to Kylos last know location." "Octavia you really have to stop leaving like this in a hurry late at night . But you better go now the next ship is leaving in a few minutes." He joked. I ran off to catch the ship before it left. Once on board I sent out a little thought telling Kylo I was coming for him, hoping he would be able to hear it where ever he was.

A few hours after leaving the base the ship came to a rough stop. "Empress we are here. His ship is right outside." A random trooper told me. I hurried off the ship and went straight to the night buzzard. I placed my hand on the ship. I instant caught a whiff of Kylo, it was such a familiar smell, I also saw visions of him. He was lost somewhere deep in these woods. He was injured, then my leg started to burn. Removing my hand from the ship it shot straight to the burning sensation, to my surprise there was nothing wrong with my leg.

"I need rope, now! And lots of it." I yelled at a trooper. The trooper brought back a thing of rope to me, I told him to stay where he was and hold onto the rope. I took the other end and made my way into the forest. The thick trees made it hard to see and the ships behind me slowly started to disappear. The deeper I went the colder I got. I had been walking for what seemed like forever before I found something. It was Kylos helmet. I started calling out his name as I continued to walk. There was a shuffling noise coming from around me. All of a sudden, a clear patch came into view. the only thing in the patch was a big rock. As I walked closer to the rock, I started to hear groaning and my name being faintly called it was so quiet that if you weren't paying attention you wouldnt be able to make out the name. I looked behind the rock and was meet by an injured Kylo.
