Soon, it is Win's turn to be moving on from primary school.

He is so happy when he notices Bright in the audience at the end of year performance, where he is playing the school skit. However, when the show is finished and he walks over to his parents - who Bright is sat beside - he notices that Bright has a girl next to him who he is talking with, quietly.

Win makes sure to announce his presence quite loudly.

"How did I do?" he exclaims.

"You were wonderful, darling!" Anu stands to give him a hug.

Win turns expectantly to Bright, who is still talking to the girl.

"Brightie? What did you think?" Win asks.

Bright turns to him and grins. "You aced it, Winnie. I never knew you were so good at it!"

"Who was that girl?" Win asks Bright meekly, when they're sat outside the village hall eating ice creams after the girl left.

"Oh, uh, that was Mina."

Win swallows before asking his next question. "Is she your girlfriend?"

"Ummm..." Bright eats a bit more of his ice cream and looks straight ahead, feeling Win's gaze burning his right cheek.

"Ummm?" Win urges.

"Srtmf."

"What?"

"Sort of."

Win doesn't understand the feeling in his stomach. It's like he has the feeling that he gets every night before going to sleep, but only his stomach can feel it now; the feeling of falling.

His mouth goes slightly dry as he tries to form his next sentence. He is hurting because Win wasn't the first person to even know he was seeing a girl. He was hurt.

"Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend?" He blinks before adding: "It's cool, right?"

"I suppose so." Bright shrugs. "Sorry I didn't say; I should have told you she was coming tonight, but then it would've ruined the surprise of me being here."

"No, don't worry; it's okay," Win replies.

There is silence as they finish off their ice creams and throw the sticks into the bin. Win knows that his parents will be inside talking to other parents and teachers for a little while longer.

"Did my mum drive you here?" Win asks.

Bright nods. "Yeah."

There's another silence before Bright turns in his seat, and Win turns to face him properly.

"Your mum said I could stay over tonight, if it's okay with you. She knows we're drifting apart, Winnie, and I know too."

"I don't want that." Win shakes his head.

"Neither do I." Bright pulls Win into a tight hug, and Win can feel the smile forming on his face. "Everything will be fine. When you're at my school, we can spend loads of time together again."

They spend a lot of the summer holidays together after that, having sleepovers at each other's houses, and spending days outside in the sun with picnics packed by Kulap or Anu.

Win realizes how much he had been missing Bright's company before.

One day when Bright says that he and Mina broke up, Win's happiness could never even be measured. His joys grew overbound.
