as life continues
i begin to understand
that emptiness will
forever follow me
& sometimes it won't reach me
& sometimes it will
but as i lay here
with tears streaming down my face
it feels impossible
to not be absorbed
in emptiness
and it feels impossible
for the ache in my chest to leave
