Zak noticed Sara shaking her head. Uh oh, am I making her uncomfortable? Pestering her with my questions? Zak decided he needed to press further, even at the risk of annoying her. He had to know where he knew her from.
"Listen, I know this may come off as a cheesy pick-up line and I really don't mean it like that, but do I know you from somewhere? Have we met before?" Zak asked, nearly stammering. He felt his face flush. Here come the butterflies again. Damn it!
Sara smiled. "I don't think we've met before. I would remember."
Zak nearly melted at her smile. Keep it together, man – don't let her see you sweat! He took a beat before continuing. "What do you do? You look so familiar to me. Are you on television?"
"I'm a yoga instructor, I have a pretty decent size following on social media. So, if you or someone you know is into yoga, then that might be where you know me from." Sara smiled again.
That smile is going to be my undoing! Suddenly, Zak realized who she was. His ex, Jennifer, had a bit of a 'girl crush' on Sara and had followed her religiously on social media. She'd even tried to attend one of Sara's yoga retreats, but it was sold out.
"Wait, you're Sara, right? Sara Easton?"
"I am –" Sara started, but before she could say any more, Zak extended his hand and words began to tumble from his mouth. "I'm Zak, it's really nice to meet you. My 'ex' followed you on social media and on your app. She was a huge fan. As soon as you said 'yoga', it clicked."
"Well, to be fair, I recognized you when you asked me if I believed in ghosts. That's why I shook my head – I can be so daft sometimes. I've watched your show for years! It's very nice to finally meet you, Zak." She smiled. Sara couldn't shake the frisson of excitement she felt when he touched her hand.
There's that smile again. Zak wanted to swoon. That's why she was shaking her head! It wasn't me making her uncomfortable. Whew, thank God.
